Aunque ha pasado ya el tiempo
Aunque debía olvidarte
Con todo te sigo viendo
Amor te sigo queriendo
Y yo no sé la razón
Más se me ha hecho imposible
Borrarte del corazón
Dónde te has ido
Quiero saber
Si me has hechado al olvido
Amor te sigo queriendo
Y ya debía olvidar
Más pasará mucho tiempo
Y te seguiré quieriendo
Dónde tú estás
Dónde te has ido
Quiero saber
Si me has echado al olvido
Amor te sigo queriendo
Y ya debía olvidar
Más pasará mucho tiempo
Y te seguiré queriendo
The lyrics of Olimpo Cárdenas's song Amor Te Sigo Queriendo express a deep sense of longing for a lost love. The singer admits that they should have forgotten about the person they love, but they still see them everywhere they go. Despite the passage of time, their feelings for this person have not waned, and they can't seem to erase them from their heart. They don't know why they continue to love this person, but they can't help themselves. The song's verses, specifically the repetition of the line "Amor te sigo queriendo," emphasizes the strength of the singer's feelings despite their attempts to move on.
The chorus, which repeats the lines "Dónde tú estás/ Dónde te has ido/ Quiero saber/ Si me has hechado al olvido" (Where are you/ Where have you gone/ I want to know/ If you have forgotten me) highlights the singer's desperation to know where this loved one is and whether they have been forgotten. Despite their efforts to forget, they still want to know if they are being thought of by the person they love. The final verse resigns to the idea that maybe they will never be able to forget this person, even though they knew they should, and that it may take a lot more time to let go.
