Problems
Oliver Céleste Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Your three words don't mean nothing to me
I'm on my own, don't need nobody
Who needs love when you got money?
I'm heartless, I'm not sorry.
I'm getting my own stuff
Don't need you, I got enough problems.

I'm cold but I don't need no saviour no
I got it good, lonely's misunderstood
Who needs love when you got diamonds?
Why don't you ask me what the time is?
Let me check my rolex that came from my own cheques
I don't need nobody else I thought you woulda known that
I don't need no more problems

It's not that I don't want love
Not that I don't need a friend
But you put me through so much shit before

And I won't do it again (gain, gain, gain, gain)
Don't need no more of them problems

Overall Meaning

In "Problems," Oliver Céleste is conveying that they don't have time for anyone else's drama or problems in their life. The first verse alone rejects the idea of materialistic love and possessions having any value in terms of love or friendship. Oliver Céleste affirms their value of independence by highlighting that they're content being by themselves and only have problems related to themselves. They're not apologetic about their heartless approach to people's issues.

The chorus showcases a sense of arrogance and self-gratification from Oliver Céleste. They place importance on acquiring their own belongings and emphasize how they don't need anyone's help. They're hard-hearted, but they're not ashamed of it. The second verse furthers their arrogance by saying how they don't need anyone to save them since they're doing well on their own. They challenge the notion that being lonely is a bad thing and that love and diamonds are not interchangeable. Towards the end of the verse, they explain how their wealth comes from their hard work and they don't need validation from anyone else.

Overall, "Problems" can be interpreted as a song about self-assurance and independence. Oliver Céleste is proud of the work they've done to get where they are, and they don't have time for anyone else's baggage. They prioritize their own comfort and self-care while pushing back on societal norms that promote the idealization of love and materialistic items.

The more I listen to this song, the more I like it. A rather simple but infectiously catchy melody and a sick beat keep me coming back. I don't think your production skills get enough credit, but they really are sublime. If I have one gripe with the song, I think it's too short. It seems to end abruptly. But apart from that, it really is a sweet way to introduce your new EP. As for the video, it's really cool to see those behind the scenes tidbits from Snapchat in January pay off. I recognize the locations. You can tell some money went into this. I really like the black and white segment! It looks so awesome! Big props to everyone involved. 😋💘
