Look At Me I'm Sandra Dee
Olivia Newton-John Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Look at me, there has to be
Something more than what they see
Wholesome and pure
Oh so scared and unsure
A poor man's Sandra Dee

Sandy, you must start anew
Don't you know what you must do?
Hold your head high

Take a deep breath and sigh
Goodbye to Sandra Dee

Well said

Yeah, as a kid I didn't recognise her when she changes her clothes and hairstyle at the end of the movie. She was a whole new person with that style.

It is honestly upsetting she was my inspiration, and I mostly feel sorry for John Travolta; he lost his wife to cancer, his son to seizure and now his close best friend, who he always been there for her and made her famous Olivia Newton-John

I was thinking the same when I heard that part of the lyric again. See you later at the car.

I like that Sandy admits she’s not happy, knows what she wants to do, is going to do it, and even asks for help.
This scene hits home for me incredibly hard. And the music is so beautiful.

Today I’m saying goodbye to Sandra Dee that was in my person since I was 14. Although nowadays I’m 42, it’s never so late to really start anew and rescue our true nature that was aprisoned in our souls. Now, I say: Goodbye to Wanderson Dee!

I think the problem is she felt out of place as compared to her peers next to dealing with peer pressure

@marky6456

@@MiyahSundermeyer Unfortunately we never know whether she was happy with who she was before. Considering how she dresses and everything, it could be that she had a lot of pressures from her parents to be the perfect girl when I reality she's just a teenager. She actively went to hang out with the "bad" crowd and they aren't necessarily the popular people. She liked them.
