I let you treat me like that
I was your willing accomplice, honey
And I watched as you fled the scene
Doe-eyed as you buried me
One heart broke, four hands bloody
Just so I could call you mine
The things you did
Well, I hope I was your favorite crime
You used me as an alibi
I crossed my heart as you crossed the line
And I defended you to all my friends
And now, every time a siren sounds
I wonder if you're around
'Cause you know that I'd do it all again
All the things I did
Just so I could call you mine
The things you did
Well, I hope I was your favorite crime
It's bittersweet to think about the damage that we do
'Cause I was going down, but I was doing it with you
Yeah, everything we broke, and all the trouble that we made
But I say that I hate you with a smile on my face
Oh, look what we became
All the things I did
Just so I could call you mine
All the things you did
Well, I hope I was your favorite crime
Your favorite crime
Your favorite crime
'Cause baby, you were mine
The song "Favorite Crime" by Olivia Rodrigo is a love ballad about a past relationship that went wrong. The lyrics express the singer's deep and intense love for her partner that was, unfortunately, one-sided. Even though the partner treated her badly and used her as an alibi, the singer still loved him and considered herself his willing accomplice. She confesses that she allowed him to treat her poorly and didn't walk away when she should have. The phrase "one heart broke, four hands bloody" represents the damage that was done during their relationship.
The lyrics indicate that the singer did everything she could to make the relationship work, even if it meant sacrificing her self-respect. She hopes that she was her partner's "favorite crime," implying that even though their relationship was tumultuous, he still valued it. The bittersweet nature of the song is reflected in the chorus, which acknowledges the damage they caused but also romanticizes the notion of going down together.
Overall, "Favorite Crime" is a poignant song that captures the intense feelings of young love and the pain of heartbreak. It also highlights the emotional struggles that people face when they care deeply about someone who doesn't reciprocate those feelings in the same way.

This song just made me cry. I relate a lot because of my ex-friend. (Lets call her A.) She used to kick my ankles, bully my best friend and called me "fat". But the thing was, I didnt care. I just took it all as a joke and that everything was fine. It even got to the point when I lost one of my other friends just because i was defending my 'friend' at the time. I had multiple arguments with my best friend because she didn't feel safe with me being friends with A. (Me and my best friend are ok now.) All though, this all ended fortunately. I have had this other friend (lets say he was B) ,that i had knew since i was 3, and me, A and B were all together in groups. e.c.t.Until one day, A pretended that B had pushed me of my chair, but he denied it. I stood up for A although she was closer to my chair at the time. I eventually asked B and he promised it wasn't him so we both knew it had to be A. I told my mom about all the things she did to me and I decided we should end the friendship between me and A. Although, recently i have been having issues with my family, and other things (personal) and i have been crying myself to sleep every single night. But this song this song nakes me remember the times where everything was ok and none of the arguments had happened and life was amazing. I am surprised you read this far, and just remember... There is always something worse that could/could of happened. Think about the future: it will change. Thank you so much for reading and have a wonderful day/night whoever or wherever you are.
I love you. <3

@MJ 1 can’t you let a verified creator be a fan? Just cuz they are verified doesn’t mean they can’t be a fan. At least they have a life

Now this song has a different meaning for me. My best friend just passed away on May 12, we knew each other since we were 3 years old and she passed away 13 years later and this song, this exact song was the song that we sang and scream right from the bottom of our heart and lungs the last time I saw her and got to hug her one last time not knowing it would be the last one. So Vanessa, wherever you are, this will forever be our song, not because of the lyrics but because of how important that moment was, is, and will forever be. Fly high my angel 🕊️
