Does anyone know if the full 20-25 minute piece is available somewhere? I'd really love to hear it!

@Ellie-Fisher

The full album is available here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WR2YprO04zk

@Ellie nah, just the wire recorder piece from 1944 I mean, there is a longer version of it but it's p much impossible to obtain unless you go to Egypt to hear it in a museum.

El-Dabh was far from the first person to make electronic music or even electroacoustic music. Instruments, and composers using those instruments, had been incorporating the electrosynthesis of sound waves into music for decades.  But tape recording (in El-Dabh's case it was even more amazing because he had to use a cumbersome wire recorder) was a revolution in musical composition because any sound, theramin, voice, noise, etc, could be recorded and then manipulated, edited, and varied in a vast variety of new ways.  For example as El-Dabh puts it: "I just started playing around with the equipment at the station, including reverberation, echo chambers, voltage controls, and a re-recording room that had movable walls to create different kinds and amounts of reverb."  Within a decade tape became a mainstay of electronic composition until computers came along.

Probably the most haunting sound I have ever heard in my life.
