On
Olympic Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

On, když byl ještě kluk
Ti chodil k vrátkům hrát,
On, zpěvák - samouk
Měl jedno sáčko snad,
V podnájmu židli s almarou
A jednu postel prastarou,
Na které sníval s kytarou,
Pár svých snů

On z lásky tvé byl živ
A nechtěl dál už nic,
Svět vešel se mu dřív
Do dvou tvých náušnic
A teď se rozhod teprv žít
Už je mu těsný tenhle byt
A vidí v tom, co bude mít,
Náplň dnů

Tu svatební cetku zlatou
Teď z prstu už svléká,
Má v hlavě jen auto s chatou
Kytaru prodal i písně za pár zlaťáků

On času měl vždy dost
A teď má stále shon
On dospěl, povyrost,
To není dávno on
Za čím se žene křížem kráž?
Už ani nevíš, že ho máš
A jeho diagnózu znáš

- ztráta snů,
Ztráta snů...

Overall Meaning

The song "On" by Olympic tells the story of a man, referred to as "On," who used to play by the gates as a boy and grew up to become a self-taught singer-songwriter. He used to have little more than one bag and a rented room with a threadbare bed, where he would dream and play his guitar. However, he found his reason to live in his love for someone special and was content with what he had. Yet, he realizes that he wants more out of life, and his love alone is not enough. He longs for a bigger purpose and has thoughts of selling his guitar, songs, and even his wedding ring to realize his dream. Despite, On's loss of direction, he still has the memories of his past, which remind him of how he lost his dreams to become a meaningless part of society.

The song is an insight into the universal struggle for finding meaning and contentment in life, which can be relatable to many individuals. The lyrics' melancholic tone serves as a reminder of our fleeting existence and highlights the importance of pursuing what brings us joy and fulfillment.
