In early 2010 vocalist Ian E.Highhill posted on myspace saying.
Olympos Mons will play their last gig on 30.1.2010 in Ekenäs, a nearby town
to their hometown Hanko. The reason for the split up is part personal problems
and part due to some band members lack of interest in committing themselves
enough to the band.
Still, some of us like myself will continue in other projects so watch
out for us you have not seen the last of us yet!
Some further biographic information from their website (http://www.olymposmons.com/):
"It was neither the alcohol nor their similar band backgrounds which brought the guitarist Jari Sundström and singer Ian E. Highhill together on a concert evening in a small town in Finland in 2002. It was the passion for melodic, symphonic metal music and one which led the two experienced musicians to the important decision of founding a band with the name of OLYMPOS MONS (the highest mountain on Mars and the largest volcano in our own solar system). It was a decision which would make waves in the world of heavy metal. Thanks to their yearlong activities in various bands they certainly had the right stuff. Jari Sundström feels just as much at home in the world of classical music as he does in rock and metal, has been composing songs for many years and his aggressive style of playing guitar has made him a popular figure on the local scene. For his part, Ian E. Highhill has a voice of exceptional range and is known both as a composer and as the author of dark, romantic lyrics."

And the magic is there right away
I go outside, and I don't need a light
Cause I know that it's her calling me
I can feel her exotic scent
Mixed up with a hot summer wind
Your dark skin nearly makes me faint
Please open your heart let me in
Whispers in moonlight
Light promises
Shimmering lights dancing
In raven black hair
Black Desiree
Whispers in moonlight
Why can't you see
We're one with the night, forever
Just you and me
Black Desiree
Black Desiree
She starts to sing an ancient tune
Meant to soothe my soul
All I see is the rising moon
And I'm going out of control
Whispers in moonlight
Light promises
Shimmering lights dancing
In raven black hair
Black Desiree
Whispers in moonlight
Why can't you see
We're one with the night, forever
Just you and me
Black Desiree
Black Desiree
The lyrics of "Black Desiree" by Olympos Mons tell the story of a man who wakes up in the heat of the night feeling a strong connection to a woman named Desiree. He doesn't need a light to guide him as he goes outside, as he knows that she is calling him. The lyrics describe the sensual feelings that he experiences in her presence, from the exotic scent that she gives off to the way that her dark skin nearly makes him faint. Despite their obvious attraction to one another, there is a sense of uncertainty and longing in the lyrics, as the man pleads with Desiree to open her heart and let him in.
The chorus of the song is particularly striking, with its use of alliteration and vivid imagery to paint a picture of the intense passion that the two characters share. The whispers in the moonlight and shimmering lights dancing in Desiree's hair combine to create a sense of otherworldly magic, while the repetition of the phrase "Black Desiree" anchors the song in a specific time and place.
Overall, "Black Desiree" is a song that captures the feeling of being drawn to someone with an almost magnetic force. The lyrics are poetic and evocative, conjuring up a sense of mystery and intrigue that makes the listener want to know more about the characters and their relationship.

Thx for the post. I have both Olympos Mons releases: "Conquistador" & "Medievil." Lead singer Ian Highhill later formed Astralion and released the self-titled and "Outlaw." Both are great bands,
