In early 2010 vocalist Ian E.Highhill posted on myspace saying.
Olympos Mons will play their last gig on 30.1.2010 in Ekenäs, a nearby town
to their hometown Hanko. The reason for the split up is part personal problems
and part due to some band members lack of interest in committing themselves
enough to the band.
Still, some of us like myself will continue in other projects so watch
out for us you have not seen the last of us yet!
Some further biographic information from their website (http://www.olymposmons.com/):
"It was neither the alcohol nor their similar band backgrounds which brought the guitarist Jari Sundström and singer Ian E. Highhill together on a concert evening in a small town in Finland in 2002. It was the passion for melodic, symphonic metal music and one which led the two experienced musicians to the important decision of founding a band with the name of OLYMPOS MONS (the highest mountain on Mars and the largest volcano in our own solar system). It was a decision which would make waves in the world of heavy metal. Thanks to their yearlong activities in various bands they certainly had the right stuff. Jari Sundström feels just as much at home in the world of classical music as he does in rock and metal, has been composing songs for many years and his aggressive style of playing guitar has made him a popular figure on the local scene. For his part, Ian E. Highhill has a voice of exceptional range and is known both as a composer and as the author of dark, romantic lyrics."
Through the Ice and Snow

We're riding the wind
With one destination alone
Something is wrong here
A chill in the air
The reaper is calling his own
You've got to stay awake
You will end up in the land of the dead
Just stay awake
Don't let him near
Don't look back, don't let go, keep your head
Through the ice and snow in a land unknown
My heart is calling out for you
Through the ice and snow a little light shall glow
It's the love I feel for you
Further and further
Into the night
A flickering light in the black (black)
Riding on rainbows
And yesterday's glory
Still home is calling us back
You've got to stay awake
Cause he's in your dreams
You will end up in the land of the dead
Just stay awake
Don't let him near
Don't look back, don't let go, keep your head
Through the ice and snow in a land unknown
My heart is calling out for you
Through the ice and snow a little light shall glow
It's the love I feel for you
The song "Through the Ice and Snow" by Olympos Mons talks about a journey through an unknown land, where the riders are facing chilling winds and approaching death. The lyrics suggest that something is wrong, and the reaper is calling his own. The chorus urges the singer to stay awake and not let the reaper near them. The rider needs to keep moving and not look back or let go of their purpose.
The lyrics are ambiguous, and it is uncertain what the journey signifies. The use of ice and snow symbolizes an inhospitable environment, but it could also represent a frozen emotional state or a difficult time in one's life. The flickering light in the darkness might represent hope or a guiding force. However, the song's overall message suggests that the singer's love for someone is the guiding light, and they are journeying towards them despite the difficulties.
