Rays Of The Sun / To The Shrinebuilder
Om Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Spirate flow on dawn arise outpour the letting sieve.
Thaumaturged stained hands down to insets a rain enlive.
Travel on. Freedom. The shrieve to sky and recondite.
Travels nerves to freedom at labyrinth borne-sun.

Amber rays escort the visitant angelic scene.
Erudite severance abides upon the tearing sea.
Rise and claim freedom. And sets onto the crimson sky.
Travels nerves to freedom at labyrinth borne-sun.

Acolyte beyonder form -
to the rain's red fall another twilight's sighing.
And liberates the vessel-born. To the sky stoned
chariot's photon main.
Climb upon beautified rays -
the recondite sails under crimson skies.
Travels nerves to freedom at labyrinth borne-sun.

Now ascent the set free as the swan navigates
toward a red sun's rising.
Align toward the glowing orb -
and reverts unto the consciousness as senses fail.
Amenance a medicant prays -
and cries onto a wind below the ice formed sky.
Rise and reclaim freedom at labyrinth borne-sun.

Toward allegiant rays yonder.
Memory-antiphon rue.
And freed initiate screen prevails.
And freed initiate screen prevails.

Spirate flow on dawn arise outpour the letting sieve.
Thaumaturged stained hands down to insets a rain enlive.
Travel on. Freedom. Absorb and home to crimson sky.
Travels nerves to freedom at labyrinth borne-sun.

Toward allegiant rays yonder.
Memories-antiphon rue.

And freed initiate screen prevails.
And freed initiate screen prevails.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Om's song "Rays Of The Sun / To The Shrinebuilder" are both abstract and poetic. The song seems to be about freedom, journeying towards some unknown place, and the role of memory and sensory experience in achieving that freedom. The lyrics paint a vivid picture of a journey towards the sun, characterized by both physical and spiritual elements.

The first stanza speaks of dawn breaking and some kind of release ("outpour the letting sieve") from a burden or constraint, which leads to an experience of rain and life ("enlive"). The second and third stanzas speak more specifically of the journey towards the sun, characterized by amber rays and a tearing sea. The lyrics encourage the listener to claim freedom and ascend towards the sun ("climb upon beautified rays"), urging them to not be held back by their senses failing ("reverts unto the consciousness as senses fail").

The song's final stanza brings together many of the song's themes - the journey towards the sun, the role of memory and sensory experience, and the attainment of freedom. The "freed initiate screen prevails" is perhaps a reference to an earlier initiation that the listener has undergone, which has allowed them to ascend towards the sun and claim freedom.

@DayvanCowboy195

Most music is shallow. This song is like the earth flying in the slip streams of the sun.

Al cisneros is an awesome bass player, but unfortunately he's the only one getting some credit. What about chris hakius? One of the most under-rated drummers ever. He has a unique touch and style, never failing to deliver the most constant groove and energy. He's not about changing all the time and being unpredictable, he is pure go go go energy... infallible like the rays of the sun ;)

@Eralen00

Chris was brilliant in OM and especially in SLEEP, I don't think anyone else could have done dopesmoker as perfectly as he did
