Sinai
Om Lyrics

Walk Melchizidek shrine descender

At Lebanon - priest ascending
And back toward Lebanon priest ascending

Menyelek now proceeds
Through the Red Sea
Reabsorbed on the peak of mountain

And reabsorb on the peak of mountain

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Sinai" by Om is a spiritual journey that depicts the ascension and descension of Melchizidek, a biblical figure who was a priest and king of Salem. The first line "Walk Melchizidek shrine descender" is a reference to the shrine that Melchizedek descended to establish his priesthood. The next two lines "At Lebanon - priest ascending, And back toward Lebanon priest ascending" indicate the journey of Melchizedek ascending and descending towards Lebanon, his place of origin.

The next two lines "Menyelek now proceeds, Through the Red Sea" refer to the journey of Menyelek, an Ethiopian legend who was the son of King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba. Menyelek is believed to have carried the Ark of the Covenant to Ethiopia through the Red Sea.

The last two lines "Reabsorbed on the peak of mountain, And reabsorb on the peak of mountain" indicate the spiritual journey of Melchizedek and Menyelek, where they were absorbed and reabsorbed at the peak of a mountain. This can be interpreted as reaching the highest level of spiritual enlightenment.

Something about that cover is so simple yet so powerful. I love just staring at it while zoning out to the music.
