The lyrics of Omar's song "Come On Speak To Me" are a reflection of the artist's distaste for dishonesty, pretentiousness, and deception in various aspects of life. The repetition of the phrase "I don't do the bullshit, don't come around me" serves as a strong assertion of the artist's refusal to engage with or tolerate such behaviors.
In the first verse, Omar criticizes individuals who try to deceive him with false claims and exaggerations. He dismisses someone who boasts about having connections ("the Joog") or a good supply ("the line"), implying that these claims are unconvincing. He also addresses an overpriced beat, implying that it is not worth the money. Omar further highlights his frustration with a disreputable promoter who tried to overcharge him for a show, asserting his worth and demanding fair treatment. The reference to people wearing Polo clothing but not in an appropriate context adds to the theme of fake displays. Finally, he acknowledges that while some may dislike him, there are others who admire him.
The second verse continues this theme, labeling someone as a liar and accusing them of illegal activities, like credit card scams. Omar expresses his skepticism towards individuals who may owe him money, making it clear that he values honesty and upfront transactions. He emphasizes that he is uninterested in engaging in any form of deceitful behavior.
Overall, "Come On Speak To Me" serves as a declaration of Omar's distaste for dishonesty, false displays, and attempts to defraud or deceive. The song portrays a desire for authenticity and genuine interactions.
