1. Omar is a UK soul artist of Chinese, African and Indo-Jamaican descent. Born Omar Lye-Fook (1969) in Canterbury England, Omar has been making albums since the early 1990s and his work is often compared to Stevie Wonder’s work of the 1970s. After the lukewarm US sales for the LP “For Pleasure,” subsequent Omar releases were only available as pricey imports. Now Omar releases his own recordings, tours the UK often, occasionally making brief tours in the US. He is often highly regarded by his US contemporaries such as Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Common, and Stevie Wonder.

2. Omar Akram is the son of a United Nations diplomat, Omar Akram spent many of his early years traveling the world, soaking up the musical traditions of such exotic locales as Afghanistan, Cuba, France, and the Czech Republic.
By the age of 14, he was considered a piano prodigy. In his late teens, he discovered the boundary-pushing sounds of Jean Michel Jarre (France), Kitaro (Japan), and Vangelis (Greece), and began to absorb their independent musical influences. At the same time, Omar Akram remained intrigued by such classical composers as Bach and Mozart, and used much of their thematic coherence, comprehensible structure, and clear rhythmic control to craft his own original compositions.

Ordinary Day
Omar Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I've got two babies of my own.
Gives me purpose and it teaches the way but
How can I be useful to show the way to the light.
I want to hear them say.
It's just another ordinary day.
Nothing gives me more pleasure than to see their faces when I'm down.
They lift me up above the ground.
All that they have done and I can be by their side.
We're gonna be such a good looking family and I want to hear them say, daddy,
It's just another ordinary day.
Giving you my life, all the night. Hold so tight.
Read the soul signs. You gotta know you control all our lives.
I know I'm not far from you.
Make time for the ones you love. (repeat)
The lyrics of the song, Ordinary Day by Omar feat. Stuart Zender, convey the message of finding purpose in life through fatherhood. The artist talks about how having two babies of his own have given him a sense of direction and responsibility. He finds pleasure in seeing his children's faces when he is down, and they lift him up above the ground. The artist acknowledges the role of fatherhood as a means to teach the way and to show the way to the light.
The artist highlights the importance of making time for loved ones and being present for them. The lyrics suggest that by being there for your loved ones, you control their lives, and they control yours. The song emphasizes the necessity of cherishing the moments and having a positive attitude towards everyday life. The artist wants to create happy memories and traditions with his family, and he wants to hear his children say that it's just another ordinary day.
