World Of You
Omar Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴

Please don't run away from the world when the world needs you
Please don't run away from the world when the world needs you
Please don't run away
Don't run away
Don't run away
Don't run away
Nod your head forward, backwards and sideways
Stand up
Now put your mama loving hands up
We out to run the Lamb demand up, YAH
Stand up, YAH
Come on, come on
You pledge allegiance to handcuffs?
Damn, bruh, can't just get on the mic and shit talk
Go ahead and wipe your lip off
Remember where we left off?
Whole hemisphere getting ripped off
Ten thousand leagues above the ground, surround sound, lift off
I've been to myself, exclusive
Front row seats to the movie
Most scenes I seem reclusive, when I dream it's usually lucid
Stages in arenas, how dare I just kick my feet up?
We lit if you haven't seen us
Flagship of the genius genus
Gee, Cornelius, love is all you needed
This summer weather is undefeated
We need you to keep it heated, the streets is feigning
Bring that feeling that we never had back
Gotta get back to brass tacks
Please don't run away from the world when the world needs you
Please don't run away from the world when the world needs you
Please don't run away
Don't run away
Don't run away
Don't run away
Just a vessel for the truth, for the youth
Pudding's in the proof
We done blew the roof
As we proceed to give you what you need
It's already paid for, united we slave for it
Don't leave here wishing that you gave more
Give up what you crave for
Don't miss the wave, boy (don't miss the wave, boy)
When the prodigal returns, he's unstoppable
It's power in the hair, type of flower that only YAH can grow
For cataracts, panic attacks
Where you lack, let's unpack for the weekend
You can depend on me
Ain't gotta keep in them thoughts you thinking
Feeling like you sinking
Heavy head blinking
Yeah, that's how I began
YAH, show me how to glow on every plane
The average human attitude to talk like this is that'll do
Are you a free man, or in debt for three grand?
Triple that
Work for a dime to get a nickel back, I'm sick about it
They tell me not to climb the mountain, I can't get around it
I wanna lift you up
Everybody can't keep you grounded
No, I can't save the whole day
But lend me power for the hour I ain't gotta role play, no way
Please don't run away from the world when the world needs you
Please don't run away from the world when the world needs you
Please don't run away
Don't run away
Don't run away
Don't run away
Please don't run away from the world when the world needs you
Please don't run away from the world when the world needs you
Please don't run away
Don't run away

Don't run away
Don't run away

I have had the pleasure of working with Omar over the years. It’s 2024 and this remains a gem.

@mpjproducer

This cut is just the ish of all times! Omar is such a genius in blending that classic mind-elevating soul from the 70's with a ultra modern, cutting edge originality. His music has such clarity and articulate beauty - loving his contribution to the art!

@kalimba04

I discovered the brilliance of Omar when I was stationed in Germany in 1991. Still diiggin' on the cat today. All hail Omar!

@whichughb

Simply gorgeous record. The LP "This Is Not A Love Song" is criminally underrated. Sexy as hell and just nothing quite like it. I feel fortunate to have copped the CD in '97 when it dropped. The disc has somehow remained scratch free for 25yrs! Gets spins to this day. Omar Lye-Fook. Dude rocked facial pierces long before they "trended." Nuf respect due, brother.

@bamjamz1

Damn, those trumpets! What an exquisitely beautiful song.

@unsolicited577

Love this song. Played it at my wedding, when we cut the cake.

@bonbon_23ft69

Digging this in Feb 2021 as I did in the 1990s from down in South Africa. "I think the world of you and I thank the world for you" - Omar

Been loving you artistically since the early 00's, Omar. Keep on crooning with your UK Blacknificence!

Blacknificence
I am a bit of a wordsmith and must say this one is top choice; and an accurate descriptor of Omar. Instant vintage. 👌🏽
