Youth
Omar LinX/Foxes Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Dragons breathing fire in the backyard at night
We live in circles
And it's so hard to breathe
Maybe the same old fears, what have we here?
Don't bring me down with you
Now I'm just chasing time with a thousand dreams
And as we cross the line, these fading beats have all been severed
Don't tell me our youth is running out
It's only just begun
If I asked you for good news, would you smile and turn away?
It's like a bad dream that is too afraid to wake
There are many among us
And we're changing all the time
Maybe the same old fears, what have we here?
Don't bring me down with you
Now I'm just chasing time with a thousand dreams
I'm holding heavy
And as we cross the line, these fading beats have all been severed
Don't tell me our youth is running out
It's only just begun
These fading beats
These fading beats
Now I'm just chasing time with a thousand dreams
I'm holding heavy
And as we cross the line, these fading beats have all been severed
Don't tell me our youth is running out
It's only just begun
These fading beats
A thousand dreams
These fading beats
A thousand dreams
It's only just begun
The song "Youth" by Omar LinX featuring Foxes starts off with the lines, "They didn't warn me when I was running wild, Dragons breathing fire in the backyard at night". These lyrics depict the singer's younger years during which they were wild and carefree, almost like there was no one to tell them what to do or how to do it. The next lines, "We live in circles, And it's so hard to breathe" highlights the suffocating feeling of being trapped in a given situation, akin to the feeling of being stuck in a loop, unable to break free. The line "Maybe the same old fears, what have we here?" suggests that despite growing up, the singer is still struggling with the same old fears they had as a child but doesn't want to be dragged down by them anymore, hence the call to "Don't bring me down with you".
In the chorus, the song talks about the passing of time and how the singer is chasing after their dreams. The lines, "Now I'm just chasing time with a thousand dreams, I'm holding heavy" further highlight the weight of responsibility of carrying those dreams and desires as they grow up and face the practicalities of life. However, the line "Don't tell me our youth is running out, It's only just begun" serves to remind us that the pursuit of dreams and the essence of youth is not defined by age, but instead the vigour and energy that drives us forward.
The next couple of stanzas ask for hope and positivity, something to fuel the singer's youth and dreams. The final lines, "These fading beats, These fading beats, A thousand dreams, These fading beats, A thousand dreams, It's only just begun" serve to drive home the point that there are many dreams to be fulfilled, many things left to discover, and that the end is just the beginning.

NoneLikeJoshua is pretty good, his lyrics are just as meaningful and as deep as Omar's. Also, Veelabeats has a lot of the peaceful singing to dubstep songs, her voice is beautiful. They have done some collabs together that have been really awesome :3
