Hi Allison, I have been studying the new Sun Princess. The 1st thing I noticed is the buffet is now on level 9 just off the Piazza. The International Cafe is not on the ground level of the Piazza. That is disappointing in that while the music and dancing is on the ground level of the Piazza I enjoyed getting a snack at the International Cafe. Finally, I am not a fan of theaters in-the -round. This type of theater is going to change the entire dynamic of the Princess production shows that we are used to seeing and loving. I hope I’m wrong but the large stage with all audience members facing you like we have been use to gives you that wow factor of dancing and special effects. Something tells me that the person who designed that new theater is from another cruise company that has been hired by Princess. Again I hope I am wrong but I believe they just ruined the theater experience.

I was fortunate enough to go on my first Viking Cruise in December, a transatlantic repositioning cruise. I love Viking but if you like to see shows & gamble Viking might not be for you. They have wonderful lectures, a mini theater for documentaries, classical musicians and a mini museum on board their ships. The food and service are wonderful and I can't wait to go on them again. But I would not give up mainstream Cruise lines because I enjoy their offerings too.

Tip - Dining reservations : if you are willing to slide your dining time slightly, you can request the same table and same wait staff each night. THEN …. You can walk right past the lines and go on in. Your only wait would be if the previous dining party at your table is still finishing dessert.

We most likely will not be able to sail on the new Sun Princess until 2025, but it looks amazing. I like the look of the piazza and hope they haven't ruined the ambiance of the piazza because it is a favorite place for us. Can't wait for your report back to us on how the theatre in the round works out. As for loyalty, Princess needs to take care of the loyal customers first, always. We are the ones who love the Princess experience. We are the ones who recommend Princess to friends and family . Loyalty should come first!

I would love to schedule a world cruise in between selling one home and transitioning to another. I would just stay at hotels in between times. That would be soooo carefree ! But not sure about that price tag and impact to retirement ….. 😅

Hi Allison. We just got off the Grand Princess, and they are not letting you use the new pricing with the beverage package. The prices are different in Australia and New Zealand. The old price was $15, the new price is $22. We ordered a drink for $15.50 and had to pay the difference. When I questioned it, I mentioned that I had heard other ships were doing that. The customer service rep went to her boss, and his comment was, "we do follow the rules here." So I guess it depends on the country you are travelling out of.

We sailed on the Sky Princess in February. One option for dinner is to order in-room from Crown Grill. We were charged $19 per person for a steak and side. We ate our dinner out on the balcony, and we both agree that it was our favorite dinner on the cruise.

I recently started to follow you. Are you a travel agent? Love your videos. I saw the one about pre-booking your first night's dinner and not having to recoup the price on board. Yes! it worked. We now have Sabatini's booked for our first night at no charge. Our travel agent never told us about that perk with the Penthouse. We look forward to the cruise and the 360! Will we be informed on board about the date of that event? Thank you for all your wonderful info.

As for group cruise dining, I love the 5pm time, so if you do that on the British Isles group cruise we booked with you, we will love that.

Hi Allison, I enjoy your videos on Princess as my wife and I have done in excess of 20 cruises with Princess and enjoy their cruises. The problem I have however is the removal of Traditional dining in the main dining rooms. In past years we could attend the dining room at your allocated time, 1st or 2nd sitting, proceed to your same table and join yor same table companions and wait staff. Now, even though we book we have to queue for up to 40 minutes for a new table and different table companions and wait staff each night. The old system worked well. Why change? The dress standard in the formal dining rooms has also deteriorated in recent times which I think is unacceptable.

We just sailed on the Discovery and there were groups who had assigned tables in the Ketchikan Dining Room. We kept hearing the wait staff ushering groups with assigned seating to just head to their tables. Maybe this is a ship by ship thing?

The only performance on a round stage was a Neil Diamond Concert, he made sure that everyone was included in the concert. He constantly was turning and singing to everyone.
It will be interesting to see how that will work with a big production show? Especially with the musicians where their fixed position due to their musical instruments. Maybe a rotation stage?????😊

I did not see any options to pay more in dining room for food (Feb). Some portions were small, but I was able to ask for more or additional items.

I had two lobster tails, they were delicious ❤️

@Linda Gonzalez Linda, I heard the same thing from my sister on the Enchanted. I opted out of the lobster that night. The ONLY other food item I wasn’t impressed with was the Beef Wellington.

I had lobster at the Crown Grill and it was delicious. When I had lobster on formal night in the MDR it was small and not very tasteful.

On the Regal in 2020 right before shut-down, I was allowed to bring as many sodas or waters as I wanted onboard. We brought two 12-packs of seltzer I think, and maybe even a 24 pack of water. Do they not allow that anymore?

Question: We put a deposit down for Sun Princess 2/18/24 sailing, but having never been to the Mediterranean, we are wondering if weather might be a little too chilly to enjoy the port adventures vs possibly a May/June sailing? But I guess trade off would be that ports less crowded, since February considered off-season. Just wanted your opinion since this is your favorite cruise destination! We enjoy watching your travel experiences and listening to your always helpful advice!

When I was in San Francisco in November 2022 the lines were so long and it took at least an hour to board. I am Elite and they said the long line was for the Elite. I don't think that was correct but I just waited with everyone else. Not happy because that is supposed to be a perk and I really didn't think it was a perk. Going same place soon so I can compare.

I was on the Comedy Cruise and we were told lobster is not served on 5-day cruises. The up-charge steaks and lobster offerings on the menu are the same steaks and lobster that are served in the Crown Grill.

I just got off Enchanted February 27...10 day cruise...we were offered lobster the 2nd formal night and every other night you could buy a lobster or fillet mignon for 19$

Be sure to order your pasta at Sabatini's well done if you don't like al-dente(under cooked imo) pasta. Last time we went to Sabatini's the food was terrible. Aside from the Pasta debacle(I hate al-dente pasta), everything I ordered (except the lasagna and calamari) was over cooked, dry, bland or tasted so bad it was simply not edible(like the Mac n cheese and chicken parm). My wife rarely ever complains about anything but spoke up after her main dish came out and was inedible.
All that being said, the new menu looks WAY better than the old one, so we are going to give Sabatini's another shot at redemption. Plus Lasagna as a Main now??? Yes Please!

We just got off of the Discovery Princess (Mexican Riviera) last weekend and wanted to comment on a few points. For reference, we haven't sailed with Princess since 2015 and this was our sixth cruise overall with them. 1) Lobster was included on the final formal night with the regular entrees - no upcharge. However you did have to pay extra for the other nights of the cruise. 2) We are Sabatini die-hards and LOVED the new menu! One of the best meals of the cruise! 3) As Platinum members, we did have the option of priority boarding, but we were with someone who is disabled so we checked in with her. 4) We saw milkshakes around the ship with all sorts of crazy toppings. It looked like the empty mugs for them were at Gelato. 5) As always, service was impeccable, however, we did notice that the food quality in the MDR was not what we were used to. That said, the quality in the buffet was fantastic! 6) My biggest gripe - they completely changed the famous Princess Love Boat Dream dessert (and not for the better). It's now a raspberry mousse sitting on a brittle cookie instead of the rather decadent chocolate and raspberry deliciousness it used to be.

The old coffee card used to get all the brewed coffee he wanted just curious what are they doing with that my husband hates the coffee in the dining room and Buffet and like the brewed coffee don't want to buy a package just for brewed coffee

Allison, you are very fair skinned and from Utah which has high altitude and strong ☀️ sun. Be careful. Our youngest son is a redhead and he has to watch it more than the reat of us. Glad you got it removed!!!!
