I. In the summer of 1999 Leonardo Silva and Peter Hollens met in a University of Oregon writing class. Their common passion for singing inspired them to start a vocal group. That winter, Pete and Leo gathered a small and talented group of 6 music lovers for their very first rehearsal. On the Rocks was born.

Known as the first official collegiate a cappella group in Oregon, On The Rocks began a tradition of excellence in a genre that was previously unheard of in the Northwest. Since 1999, several other groups, including University of Oregon’s Divisi and Oregon State’s Outspoken have followed their lead and joined the fast-growing A cappella community.

OtR has established itself as one of the top a cappella groups in the nation. Their current repertoire ranges from contemporary pop to doo-wop classics to holiday standards and the occasional original piece. OtR is comprised of mostly undergraduate students and usually consisting of 9 – 12 members. Every fall and spring, an extensive audition process is held to find quality replacements for graduating members in 4 different vocal categories-, tenor, baritone, bass and vocal percussion. Auditioning students are evaluated on tonal memory, solo talent, blending ability and, of course, personality. Once the new members are chosen, OTR can be heard singing every Friday @ the EMU amphitheater and around campus at various events throughout the year. Aside from hosting quarterly concerts, they have toured the West Coast and have visited the east coast often, and Canada. They have performed with the professional quartet the Coats and at various a cappella festivals all over the west coast.

In 2002 OtR placed 3rd at the International Competition of Collegiate a cappella and returned the next year in 2003 to place 2nd out of hundreds of groups. During the competitions they took in more than a dozen awards including, Best Soloist, Best Vocal Percussion, Best Arrangement and Best Hair. They have appeared live on the NBC Today show, along with other various semi-national news stations such as WB news @ 10 on “Toni Time”.

Every year in the winter since their inception OtR has been invited to sing the National Anthem at the UO Basketball Games in Mac Court. Their performance has been broadcast on UO radio to several thousand listeners and was received with uproaring praise from the appreciative 7,000 fans and radio commentators alike.

OTR has also reached viral status with their YouTube videos of Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up," and is probably best known for their version of Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance," which reached 7.5 million views on YouTube. OTR has toured all over the US and Canada. The group travels to Berkeley, CA for the West Coast A Cappella Showcase every year. OTR has toured San Francisco, San Diego, Los Angeles, New York, New Haven, and Boston, and hope to tour more in the future. In 2010, OTR was featured on the second season of the hit NBC show "The Sing-Off".

Since it’s inception, On the Rocks has released two albums:The self titled OTR – 2002 and Backgammon Sessions – 2003. They are finishing up their latest CD, soon to be released in fall of 2005. Awards for their recordings include a selection on the 2004 BOCA compilation album (Best of Collegiate A Cappella). The selected track was Yellow off the Backgammon Sessions album and it was also chosen as the runner-up best male song of the year by CARA (Contemporary A cappella Recording Awards) Their most recent CD, Full Coverage includes tracks from such artists as Mr. Mister, Justin Timberlake, Rufus Wainwritght, and more. II. On The Rocks

Colorado rock has a distinctive sound, identified by a blending of acoustic and electric guitars and an emphasis on tight vocal harmonies. No band around present this as powerfully as 'On the Rocks'. Add to the mix, dynamic rhythms and emotional originals, and you have the recipe for a band on the rise. Frontman Shawn Wright's gravely voice and passionate performances move audiences to frenzied levels, then gently brings the house down with love songs, such as 'til the end' or a power ballad like 'something more than this'. His sense of humor shines through with songs such as 'nailed your best friend'. Nn lead guitar is Ohio born Mike Princehorn. He cut his rock and roll teeth in the northern Colorado area. His versatile styles keep up with the bands ever-changing moods through each set. His strong vocals are heard on front as well as in harmonies. He's no shrinking violet, evident when harmonizing with Shawn's powerhouse vocals. Also a song writer, original material seems limitless. Arriving all the way from Detroit is bassist Sonny Lentz. He brings a streetwise edge and Motown influences to the music. Combining blues, rock, soul, country and reggae, his rhythms keep the songs, and the audience, moving. He contributes original material that is provocative and somewhat unpredictable. Rounding out the quartet is Colorado's own Norris Jones on drums. Norris has played with northern Colorado favorites 'canebrake run', Walt Jenkins, Liz Barnez, and 'harmony road'. His jazz and infusion roots add a cool and diverse bottom to the passionate original material. He is dynamite on the rockin' tunes as well. As word spreads, the band's calender is filling up. They are playing regularly up and down the front range, and extending into Nebraska, Wyoming and Montana.

@Customer Service I am a believer (see my website @ www.vernasstudycorner.ca).There is no greater foundation for lasting love than that based on trust & respect, solid friendship, which they have had. They have focussed on their goals & made a decision 2 not be emotionally involved 4 fear it would get in the way of their success. Now they just need to allow the emotional aspect of their relationship which they previously repressed. May the good Lord open their eyes & their hearts, so they can give themselves permission to pursue the love they denied themselves.

Yes, & I felt so hurt for Tessa when Scott insisted on referring to their relationship as only a "business partnership" - even if they were not romantically involved, it was a LOT MORE than a business partnership. That was such a NEGATION of their very special friendship; I felt that was something he had to say to appease his little fluffy fiance; but I still felt it extremely insensitive to Tessa.

@Liz Marie I am sorry but I disagree with you. Watching Scott I think fans would agree that he runs his own ship his own way he does not seem to need his fiancee to like anybody. And I am convinced that he really does not care if she likes T or not. S is a man that makes up his own mind and acts. In fact, I really don't know any man that would decide to marry a woman based on if she likes his best friend at least not in my world. T is not just a casual acquaintance friend she is his companion for 22 years on the ice. They have been through more marriage counseling than normal couples which they have said over and again. T has been wrapped around S body tighter and peeling on a banana. They know each other mentally, physically, spiritually and every other way so the fiance is not likely to like her period it leaves too much room for chemistry. No, I don't think she will try to be friends with T and I really don't think he based any part on his upcoming marriage on whether she likes T or not for sure. Just my opinion.

ceremony the fiancee had diggers in her eyes looking at T trust me there is no love lost there. No, I am married and I can assure there will be no room in his marriage for 2 women especially the 22- year skating partner with their chemistry are you kidding me and I can't blame the new wife. There would be just too much room for feelings to start with her and S and that would not be good. There is a saying in my culture and it goes like this "2 cooks never should be in the same kitchen". He may want to bring her in as his co-owner of the business and run the school but I don't see it happening. Tessa and the fiancee are not lifetime friends. Just my opinion.

First of all, I went to University with Tessa. I hate when people put the blame Tessa or on Scott. You don't know them personally so please stop guessing! There is no blame and no one wanted out of the partnership more than the other, they made the decision together as partners! They will never lose that partnership and soulmate connection but they are entitled to have a life of their own. They're both very career driven people and love what they do regardless if that's on or off the ice. For Tessa, that means she wants to focus on other avenues in business where as Scott is choosing to settle down. There is nothing wrong with this! Many people do this in everyday life just because they share the spotlight of the media doesn't make them any different. They should be very proud of themselves and Canada should be proud of them. Also being respectful of their choices as they are not yours to make! I look forward to seeing what life has to offer both of them separately and together as partners. They may decide years later to come back and do shows but right now they need to break and they need to find their separate paths. With that said, people divorce all the time because it doesn't work out for whatever reason. This may or may not be the case later on but people need to respect that too.

(no dudo que alguna vez hayan tenido "algo") Además él está comprometido ahora (raro, por que nunca vi fotos con su novia) y también es cierto que todos los patinadores se retiran a cierta edad como ellos, mas aun si se retiran con otra medalla olímpica. Por lo tanto, fue bonito mientras duró. Lamentablemente la gente común cree todo lo que ve como en una teleserie (al personaje malo lo odian y al bueno lo aman, pero son solo actores, interpretan un papel, un rol) Ellos siempre dijeron que interpretaban una historia en cada danza para que le gustara a la gente, y eso siempre lo hicieron muy bien y por eso se merecen todos mis respetos.

I know T did reject him not totally It is reported that he wanted to marry T or take their relationship to another level but she apparently refused because she has had to many hurts from S during their skating relationship S dated girls their whole career with the exception of from between 2016-2018 it is reported that during this time T and S were a couple they were very close and T forgave him prior to these years very time and stuck with him. However, every girl he did date apparently broke up with S so he does not have a good track record when it comes to relationships outside the ice. He was playing the game of I will date other girls but keep T on hold as his ''on ice'" partner to have heavy chemistry with which helped him forget the girls that dumped him. T was always waiting for him to return and she loved him so much that she was willing to take him back hoping against hope that he would straighten up and love her as she did him the engagement was the knife that he stuck in her back which has now caused her to move on. However, it is reported that some fans feel he is playing a game with this fiancee to drive T back to him hoping T will get jealous enough that she will take him back should he crawl back and ask forgiveness. Apparently, S likes to play these types of games and he thrives on making other women jealous by dating her rival. So. He may have overplayed his hand this time because even though T loves him I feel she will not want to go back to him and play his little games. If S has used the fiancee to get T back and does not marry the fiancee who knows what the fiancee will do. Because it is also reported that S pushed J into the divorce so he could get engaged. I don't know if there is any truth to this however if S did and now he walks out on fiancee it might not end well for him so he may just have to marry this woman to save rumors and more negative publicity on him than what is already out there. T does not want to get in the middle of him and fiancee because she does not want any negative publicity at least no more than what has already been published because she so wanted their career to end on a high and a good note but S unfortunately because of his behavior towards T and this sudden engagement has totally put a blemish on he and T's relationship/friendship. Yes, he ended their partnership/friendship when he got engaged because T said in an interview right after the WOF ceremony when S announced his engagement T said she envisioned her and S accomplishing milestones that they had wanted to do as partners but now she said they won't happen because there is going to be a wedding. T knew then that it was over. Is she hurt, yes, Is she crushed deeply? yes. He played with her emotions for years. It is very evident that all along S was the actor. T's chemistry apparently was real. S just threw her under the bus time and time again. I will not wish him well I feel this woman he is getting married to will destroy his life and he is walking into a nightmare that he has chosen. I can say for sure should he want to reconcile with T at some point his road back will be very long and very hard. You say you know he is happy what do you base this on just asking? Do you know him personally?

Why are they doing this to all their fans? Just watching their performances is great but we all know that this is the end after the tour they will migrate into real life and this amazing story ends. Their partnership and possibly their friendship could very well end because of Scott's upcoming marriage. They seem to perfect for each other.

I know me too it is just so sad to watch them end this beautiful 22-year friendship and not try to find some way to work it out to stay together. Sad that Scott got engaged because now they have no other alternative but to end it because the fiancee will not allow him to continue with Tessa. I am a bit confused as to why T said not having their partnership is ok with her it sounds like she is okay not to have the partnership or she has no choice to not have the partnership. She said she has come to terms with it. S did not say he was okay without the partnership he praised her in every sentence. He talked about missing her being proud of her she never said she would miss him. T said when she puts on her skates she needs S, in other words, because they are retiring she would not have a reason to put them on so she would no longer need S. I feel she wants to move on in a different direction and her plans do not include the ice S will stay on the ice it is in his blood and he wants to coach future Olympians he loves the sport. Perhaps she loved it enough to win the medals which put her in the celebrity bracket she is now known all over the world she has used this platform to gain notoriety in the fashion world and gives her a platform in the corporate world. Anyone have a different take on this tragically sad ending.

@Pooneh Fooladi I totally agree as I listened to the video again it seems that maybe S does not want to skate anymore since he got engaged which will end their partnership. So she will have no need to put her skates back on. In an interview, T said that she does not want to skate with anyone other than S and that is a road she does not want to go down. I am shocked that he does not want to continue to skate even if it is just doing shows with T. He seems to love it so much to the point that he may even coach. In an interview on BX93 he said "I can't imagine my life without working with Tessa" so what happened? Why the sudden change in him to get engaged and end any chance of future skating with T. Again, I get the retirement which was coming anyway but hoped for a few more shows out of them. I do feel that if he would give his and T's friendship/partnership a chance it could turn into a beautiful relationship and who knows. Really disappointed like many other fans.

I don't see why we need to conjecture what they mean like this. We don't know them. There are a thousand ways to read this. She could have meant since Scott doesn't want to skate anymore she needs to stop because as long as she is on skates she needs him. Everyone needs to stop projecting

@リンリン I agree if he would just give more time I really feel they would work it out that is why I am so sad he rushed into this engagement with this woman because it complicates his and T's relationship even more. It is okay if they have different professions, my husband and I have different professions but have a beautiful marriage and they can have a happy ending which is what I feel they really want. They do understand each other and know each other very well. They both need time since they are learning to live in a normal working world to figure each other out now that they are off the ice. With more time I feel they could have a beautiful relationship. I agree to watch Tessa I feel she used him to get fame and to get known around the world especially after winning gold medals which have helped her get her corporate/fashion career launched. For some reason, she feels like she is going to conquer the world. She did say in the video at the first RTR show that she needs Scott when she puts on skates well what about when you don't have them on?

Scott said I can't wait to see her fly she said as long as I am on skates I need Scott. Well so sad because it sounds like the problem is she does not want to stay on skates but to move on perhaps in her career which looks like it does not include him and perhaps so he is having to let her go and move on. I thought for so long it was Scott wanting to end the relationship especially when he got engaged but this really says a lot when you listen to it closely. @Customer Service as for u saying tessa said it was her fault she did not say she was in pain. To me it looked like she was just taking a lot of blame onto herself. Scott does not come across as a person who would have encouraged her to talk and be there for her. He was more bothered about ignoring her after they left practice and totally shutting her off. Maybe she never said anything because she did not feel like it would be welcome. She seemed to not want to get scott angered since he has this temper so she kept quite. Scott should have made her feel so comfortable that she would have opened up to him instead he ignored her and she kept excusing him . Finally she has stopped excusing him . Good for her. But she is too sweet to ever tell him off. I think she will always be the same. She needs someone equally sweet. Scott is with jackie who might not be sweet but she keeps scott in place. So they are more suited than tessa and scott ever were. Just because tessa and scott are not suited for each other, they dont have to get blamed. They are just two very young kids who got together with a similar goal and tried to form a partnership, it worked for them as long as they had one common goal. Now its not working as even when it worked it was dysfunctional, and moreover their common goal is also not there anymore holding them together. So they have gone separate ways. We can only wish them luck. Not blame them for not remaining in a unhealthy relationship. Moreover that interview u said on qtv that was in 2011. They were 20 years old. Still very very young to even know what life is. They are 30 now and they would have changed. They cant always remain 7 and 9 to just please fans . They have to live for themselves too . They are first in foremost human beings. Not just skaters performing to please fans . They did it for a long time. I guess it is their time to leave .

@Customer Service but in the end no matter what type of personality tessa is u cant blame her for being sweet. She is who she is. A very sweet person. So let them go. They are just not people who can stay together. Different personalities, Scott is marrying the woman he wants to be with. As for tessa she is still young and sweet. I dont think she would have told scott I am a feminist. She does not come across as a feminist. Just a strong person who was very patient for a very long time finally breaking free. Dont keep finding fault with her just because she didnt bury herself in depression when scott left her to get married. She has moved on strongly and slowly. She is making a living and studying. She still remains sweet but is so encouraging to young girls.

@S K I totally agree however just a little insight that I got there is a video of T and S on a radio talk show just before they won the 2010 gold he was 16 and she was 14 and the interviewer asked T why they did not talk when she was laid up after her surgeries and she admitted it was really her fault because she did not communicate with S how much pain she was in because she was afraid he would get another partner to skate the 2010 and future Olympic comiptitions and I feel maybe she felt he would bring in J. The ghost of J has been hanging over t's head all along. S during this interview, admitted that he had no idea how bad her pain was so T sucked up the pain and retrained to skate the 2010 Olympics telling herself that she did not feel pain just to skate with him she was in a lot of pain she said during that skate. She blames herself for holding out on S and not communicating with him how she really felt. I feel because S is a man who talks things through and just puts it out that he may have gotten frustrated because T would not let him know her feelings perhaps is is how T was raised very prim and proper she was not raised to have knock down drag out brawls she was raised to be respectful and classy this is why they are different but sometimes differences balance each other she was good for S on a social educational level he was good for her helping her to live in the moment and stand up for herself which is a good balance. If T were the type that would just tell him shut up and where to go S would have respected her more if T had told him to take a hike and found another partner S would have straightened up T was too proper S needs a type of woman who knows and understands the "streets" and J is a street woman she knows how to look at him tell him off and go to "hell" and S loves it she is probably fiery she dosn't fear him she puts him in his place and this is why he is drawn to her she divorced her husband for S are you kidding me she has a lot of "balls" and that is what S needs in a partner. If T had been this way with him and threatened him he would have been a different man to her because he knew he needed T to win the Gold no other partner could have done it for him. Mr. M would have straightened up and treated T with the respect she deserved. Yes T is sweet too sweet for a strong personality man like S he needed a good old fight once in a while to put and keep him in his place and T did not deliver perhaps he found her boring who knows. In the future I feel she will put out a book with the truth she will tell the tell the true story because I feel she would want her fans to know what really happened. Right now she is hurting she loved the man of her dreams she poured every ounce of herself into him and that bastard kicked her to the curb so cruel so heartless. Sometimes when two people don't make it one is straight and the other is bi-sexual could this be the problem. It has been reported that she is bi and reported that he is bisexual well he dispelled this theory because he is getting married to a woman a pretty woman but T is single like you said time will tell.
