Stockholm syndrome, or capture-bonding, is a psychological phenomenon in which hostages express empathy and sympathy and have positive feelings toward their captors, sometimes to the point of defending and identifying with them.
In an interview, Harry Styles, who co-wrote the song, discussed its meaning. After defining “Stockholm Syndrome”, he explained that they applied the idea of the psychological phenomenon to a relationship–“of actually,” as Zayn added, “enjoying the feeling of being trapped,” with Harry clarifying, “to a nympho.” When the interviewer suggested that the song was a reflection of the band “feeling trapped” within their circumstances, Liam dismissed this (decidedly more PG) interpretation, and Harry insisted, “This song was more about, like, a nympho.”
“Nympho” is colloquial shorthand for the term “nymphomaniac,” which is defined as “a woman who has abnormally excessive and uncontrollable sexual desire.”

I've been here for days
Who's this whisper telling me
That I'm never gonna get away?
I know they'll be coming to find me soon
But I fear I'm getting used to
Being held by you
Baby, look what you've done now
Baby, I'll never leave
If you keep holding me this way, oh oh-oh
Baby, look what you've done to me
Baby, you've got me tied down
Baby, I'll never leave
If you keep holding me this way, oh oh-oh
Who's this man that's holding your hand
And talking 'bout your eyes? (oh oh-oh)
Used to sing about bein' free
But now he's changed his mind (oh oh-oh)
I know they'll be comin' to find me soon
But my Stockholm syndrome is in your room
Yeah, I fell for you
Baby, look what you've done to me
Baby, look what you've done now
Baby, I'll never leave
If you keep holding me this way, oh oh-oh
Baby, look what you've done to me
Baby, you've got me tied down
Baby, I'll never leave
If you keep holding me this way, oh oh-oh
All my life I've been on my own
I use a light to guide me home
But now together we're alone
And there's no other place I'd ever wanna go (go)
Baby, look what you've done (to me)
Baby, look what you've done to me
Baby, look what you've done now
Baby, I'll never leave
If you keep holding me this way, oh oh-oh
Baby, look what you've done to me
Baby, you've got me tied down
Baby, I'll never leave
If you keep holding me this way, oh oh-oh
(Look what you've done to me)
(Baby, look what you)
Baby, look what you've done
(To me)
(Baby, look what you)
Baby, look what you've done to me
The lyrics of "Stockholm Syndrome" by One Direction touch upon a phenomenon that occurs when someone who is in captivity begins to develop feelings of affection, loyalty, and even love for their captor. It is a psychological condition that was first recognized in Sweden in 1973 when hostages from a bank robbery developed feelings of attachment to their captors.
In the song, the singer portrays himself as a captive who has been held hostage by an unknown person for days. He is initially scared and fearful but eventually grows to enjoy the experience and the attention he is receiving. The phrase "my Stockholm Syndrome is in your room" directly references the psychological condition and suggests that he has developed feelings for his captor.
The theme of the song ties in with the title, as the singer and the person holding him captive are experiencing Stockholm Syndrome. The lyrics show how the singer is trapped in this cycle, unable to escape the hold that his captor has on him. Despite knowing that he will eventually be rescued, he is so consumed by his feelings that he accepts being held captive.
Overall, the song is a haunting reminder of the power dynamic that can develop between hostage and captor, and how the psychological condition of Stockholm Syndrome can have profound effects on both parties.

Directioners stayed when Zayn left
Directioners stayed when they went on hiatus
Directioners stayed even if they said their hiatus was only 18 months
Directioners stayed even if they didn't have a reunion on their 10th anniversary
After 10 years, Directioners are still here supporting them and will stay as a family even if they won't come back
