Fronted by vocalist Dot Allison, One Dove released five singles (including "Why Don't You Take Me", "Breakdown" and "White Love") plus had their song "Fallen" featured in the soundtrack to the trashy cult classic "Showgirls". They released their sole album Morning Dove White in 1993.
After they aborted the recording of a second album in 1995, Dot Allison went on to have a respectable solo career further exploring the sounds of electronica and electroclash; Ian Carmichael went on to be a remixer/producer for various artists including Manchester band Lamb.

One Dove Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And I am there chasing, Flying
Envious angels
You can send me ravens
I have the will of a demon
wish me all the ills you have
Plant your secrets in my silence
My sadness caught in your gaze
Sail over me
Hear the call of sirens
The lyrics to One Dove's song "Sirens" are ambiguous and open to interpretation, but at their core, they convey a sense of longing and a desire for connection that is unfulfilled. The opening lines, "Oh I, I can see your eyes / And I am there chasing, flying / Envious angels," suggest a desire to be close to someone, to feel connected to them in a way that is beyond human understanding. The use of the phrase "envious angels" implies that this connection is supernatural or otherworldly, and that the singer longs to experience it.
The next stanza, "You can send me ravens / I have the will of a demon / Wish me all the ills you have / I am touched by angels," continues this theme of longing and unfulfilled desire. The imagery of sending ravens and possessing the will of a demon suggests a willingness to do whatever it takes to achieve the connection the singer desires. The phrase "I am touched by angels" reinforces the idea that this connection is something divine or supernatural.
The final stanza, "Plant your secrets in my silence / My sadness caught in your gaze / Sail over me / Hear the call of sirens," brings the themes of secrecy, sadness, and longing together. The singer is asking the object of their affection to confide in them, to share their secrets and their sadness. The phrase "sail over me" suggests a desire to be fully immersed in this otherworldly connection, and the reference to the "call of sirens" adds a sense of danger or risk to the proceedings.

Mega-brilliant, Ian. I remain a loyally devoted fan of you guys. One Dove's transformative music was an integral part of the soundtrack of my life in 1993, when I turned 27.

Wow!! Sirens may be my favorite track from the album (impossible to pick just one favorite- they're all great) so hearing this version is truly awesome! There's a good funky groove going on here, and I agree- I do love the vocal harmonies here as well. Thank you so much for sharing.
Any chance of more "original version" tracks or outtakes from the album? Radio performances?
It's just so wonderful to see a One Dove community out there, thriving and actually growing. The band truly deserves the recognition.
