Trying to escape this
Attempting to leave behind a situation, an environment or a feeling that is causing distress

Covered in tar
Coated in a thick, black and sticky substance, which could symbolize the heaviness and suffocation of the current circumstances

But every recording
Despite all attempts to capture and express what's going on, to document and analyze it, to make sense of it or share it with others

You keep distorting
The output ends up being twisted or altered, due to different factors such as interference, noise, personal biases or emotional states

Like an astronaut
Comparable to a space explorer, who faces various challenges and obstacles while trying to communicate or gather information from a distant or unfamiliar place

It's funny old world
Life, despite its seriousness and complexity, can sometimes evoke a sense of amusement or irony

Full of headaches in turn
Containing many problems, difficulties or annoyances that arise in a cyclical or repeating manner

So whenever you need space
Whenever you feel overwhelmed, drained or constrained by your current situation

I guess it's okay
It might not be ideal or easy, but it's acceptable and reasonable to retreat, disengage or seek solitude when needed

When you're floating away
When you are metaphorically leaving the ground, going beyond your usual limits, exploring your imagination or disconnecting from reality

To feel nothing at all
To experience a sense of numbness, emptiness or detachment, which could be calming or disturbing depending on the context

We can be astronauts
We can adopt a similar mindset, attitude or role as explorers, pioneers or dreamers, who challenge the status quo and venture into the unknown

Searching for a sense of security, comfort or familiarity that might be missing or threatened in the current environment
