I've always said Robb should've married the Frey girl before he even left the crossing the first time, not leave and come back to marry her. When Ned fought in Roberts rebellion he married Catelyn for the riverlands support and he did it right away not after the war. And he left her pregnant with Robb so there was no disputing the allicance. That is what Robb should've done because even if he fell in love after, he would not have cast aside the Frey girl, even if it meant he had to make Talisa his mistress or let her go altogether.

Remember, this is the man who showed up late to the Battle of the Trident, so no one knew which side he'd planned to commit his forces to. Talissa's role is a tragic one: she makes Rob Stark show his true personae: a sweet young man, but certainly no ruler. and that led them both to their doom. Rob is a nice and noble lad, simply too good, too trusting, and way too inept politically to last long His main driver is "to go home, in Winterfell". It never occured to him to plan for a post-Geoffey era, he trusts his arch-stupid mother who always gets EVERYTHING wrong, he doesn't realize the magnitude of the offense he visited on the Freys, he is blind to Bolton's ambition and pragmatism, he's naive enough to allow large numbers of enemy soldiers eat his stock and tax his medical supplies... They both had such great chemistry. Richard Madden does an amazing job depicting that feeling of hanging on every word of someone your in love with.
You can see him fighting back his emotions until he can't anymore and awkwardly blurts out "I don't want to marry the Frey girl!" Talisa is talking about her brother drowning but they are having a completly seperate conversation with their eyes.
The scene when Talisa tells Robb she wants to name a boy Ned is hearbreaking considering what comes next.
Its shocking people didn't like them together. This was my 2nd favorite couple..after Ygritte and Jon of course.

I know this video is about Talisa, but I always admired Robb. Thought him a fool, but admired him. He did everything that he did for love. He promised himself to the Frey girl for love of his father, fought a war for love of his house and countrymen, killed for love of justice, broke a vow for love of a woman, and as consequence, died for that love. To see a man- albeit a fictional one -so passionate and driven by what is right be put down like a sick dog, it leaves a little bit of darkness on your soul, truly.

I sadly don't think that happened. Even Sansa and Jon couldn't deny it when the Northerners blamed Robb for abandoning the north for a "foreign whore", so even Talisa left a bad taste in their mouths. Plus, Sansa sees that whatever money they have has to go to food to help Winterfell make it through the long winters or to prioritize the villager's needs. The only person who really gave a damn about Talisa and her baby was Arya, who vocally included her in her vengeance towards the Frey's, but even she has moved far away.

I didn't feel much for her, but I don't hold her responsible for what happened to House Stark. Robb was the King, he's the one who gave his word, he should have known better. And even though he made some very dumb decisions, Walder Frey and Roose Bolton are ultimately the ones to blame.

Marrying for love is a relatively recent development for our world, and even then, many parts of the world still use arranged marriage.

In the GOT universe, marriage was more for building political alliances than it was for the whims of lords and ladies. I think the people that criticize Robb and Talisa’s marriage for love is that what they did was extremely privileged and frankly irresponsible. No one can blame them for falling in love of course. But that’s to give you some perspective.

I like Talisa and Robb's relationship much better in the show than Jeyne Westerling. In the books, it seems like he fell for the first pretty girl that gave him the time of day. Honestly, that is quite tragic, because it shows that he was just a boy trying to be a king. In the show, him falling for the smart girl who wants to make the world better is a better romance. Less tragic because there's more maturity to it, but still sad, because they really could have been great together ruling the north. They were truly a beautiful match, and could have helped people and ruled benevolently. Wish it had worked out

Robb and Ned went on and on about honour. Yet they kept secrets, broke promises and ultimately just wanted a life they could be happy with. Nohting wrong in that. In the book Ned goes on and on about wanting to go home. Peter (was a vindictive nasty, two faced little....) However he had no choice but too side with Cersei in the succession. He gave Ned the perfect plan and Ned refused. Spouting Honour. When in reality part of the motivation as described in the book. Stannis would choose his own hand and he would go home. If Peter had followed Neds command of getting him the gold cloaks, he would have been executed by Stannnis. Or at best exiled. Whilst Ned wondered off home to his huge loving family. Robb wanted Talisa. Im not saying he didnt love her but it began with lust. He broke the vow, then was insane in going too the twins. He had those numbers if he had taken council and kept the Karstarks on board. He didnt listen to a single piece of advice from anyone. I can believe till it snows in dorne. Always loved that line.

I never understood why they removed Jeyne Westerling. In the show, Robb breaks his oath to Walder Frey just to bone some foreign girl with a nice ass. In the books, Robb marries Jeyne to preserve her honor after taking advantage of him in a moment of weakness (and he didn't want to put her child through the same shit Jon went through as a bastard)

In the first six minutes of this video, her name is pronounced three different ways. When Robb asks her what her name is, she says Talisa, pronounced with the emphasis on the first A and the 's' as an S sound. How could rob be so stupid. That moment after he beheads lord karstark when he tells talysa "you were right, the karstarks are gone, over half of our forces"

My initial response was .. "WELL OF COURSE YOU MORON!" All you had to do was hold
Him, hell even release him for a time. Call it even for his loss of children. But cutting his head off and not thinking past his anger was childish and shortsided. Besides, after breaking his oath to walder Frey he deserved the be betrayed.

Frankly, he's the only stark I don't miss.

If Walder Frey had introduced or married Roslin to Robb before they crossed the Twins this wouldn't have happened. Roslin Frey was quite beautiful much to the surprise of everyone. The Walder gives Robb is quite funny when she's revealed like "You could've had this if you'd just kept your word dumbass." And I would've agreed with him. I think she was even more so than Talisa.

MathiasDante02 I think that Roose and Walder wanted to change sides in the War as things were looking very bad for Robb and all those who followed him, and they used the 'marriage betrayal' as an excuse to get rid of him for Tywin. Even if Robb didn't marry someone else things would have still been looking grimm for his side and I think Bolton and Frey would have still betrayed him to Tywin for more favourable rewards i.e. gold and lands etc. Besides, Robb didn't marry Talisa just for her looks. He values other things more than that. He saw she had a kind heart and that she didn't discriminate when nursing the wounded. He also noticed she was clever and thought about the bigger picture, like life after Joffrey was dead- something Robb failed to think ahead about. She had a sharp tounge and quick whit that Robb liked and which kept him on his toes. She wasn't like any other woman he had met before as she was a highborn lady who refused to live her life throwing meaningless parties etc while people suffered and wanted to do good and do useful things in her life.

Mark Hayes you are right, its a giant plot whole. Why not make her from another of the free cities, such as Myr. It would make much more sense. And her family are never mentioned again. Surley they would be upset/angry? Loose plot threads everywhere. I dont think her story was well thought out. When was this 3 year summer supposed to have happened when she was 12 if they are just coming out of a 10 year summer now. How old is she meant to be?

Saskia Mori If she was so honorable he would've kept his word to Walder Frey... In the book he did the honorable thing which is understandable and I give him a pass for that BUT on the show... NOPE! No pass for you Robb Stark! I love you and always will but you didn't put your people and your duty above yourself! Jon on the other hand did do that... He put his duty and honor and his people before himself when he left Ygritte... Being a King is about sacrifices and sometimes that sacrifice is walking away from the person you love for the greater good and he didn't do that... Robb made a mistake...

Hanna Heller to me it seemed like he fell in love with her because she was different to other women he knew. She left her cushy life of nobility to be a nurse on the battlefield. She cared for all the wounded and didn't discriminate against those on the opposite side of the war. She challenged him to be better. Unfortunately, their marriage cost Robb the war and many lives on his side because he pissed Walder Frey off by breaking his word and not marrying his daughter. Robb was too nieve and honourable and didn't think tactically enough about politics, which he needed to do as a king and leader at war. That was his downfall. He should have held off on marrying Talisa. Married a Frey girl if he had to, but he was to honourable. He was being selfish and not thinking about the big picture or consequences. It didn't even occur to him that Frey would wan't revenge or that Bolton would betray him. He was too noble and honourable for his own good. It blinded him to the true way the world works as he assumed/expected all men were as honourable and they weren't, costing him his life, along with his mother, wife and unborn child, and all his men.

Robb was a fool he made an agreement with walder knowing what it meant for anyone waving the Frey banner, as for roose he didnt even want to go to war in the first place, but was willing to. Robb by marrying, talisa essentially spat in their faces and told them to deal with it. I dont hate her character though, i think it would have been intresting to see her after Robb choice to marry Walders daughter.
