In 1984 they released Live Is Life which topped the charts in many countries, and a live recording of the song even made the Top 40 in the USA in 1986. It remains popular as a sing-along song for crowds at sports events in Europe. A cover version was also performed by the Slovenian band, Laibach.
Opus is still active, but have not enjoyed the same success since Live Is Life, and are generally considered a one-hit wonder. They also had success with some other songs in Austria, Germany and Switzerland, but not in "non-German-speaking" countries.

3. A Yugoslavian progressive rock band from Belgrade formed in 1973 (sometimes is called Opus 1).
The members included Miodrag Okrugić on keyboards, Dušan Prelević on vocals, Slobodan Orlić/Dušan Ćućuz on bass, Ljubomir Jerković on drums and a variety of guitar players.

4. An unsigned English Heavy Melodic Instrumental band which formed in 2000.
Opus formed in early 2001 and debuted a year later with their 6 track (non-instrumental) EP Questions. After a year and a half of touring in and around London and supporting bands such as The Datsuns, Kid Galahad and The blueprint Opus decided to perform an instrumental one off show in their local area Frimley. Much of their set was improvised and the band played their set with total belief in what they were doing that night. From that day Opus have only ever performed instrumental sets.
In 2004 they went on to record their self-titled 30 minute long, one song self-released EP OPUS. They have since gone on to develop their distinctive style of heavy, yet melodic instrumentation and have been working to create new material. Sample Aura is the bands 3rd studio EP and was released on 10th March 2006. They recorded a free track called Antipathy which could be downloaded from their official site.
Their influences can be found in artists such as Tool, Mogwai and King Crimson.

IN THE SUMMERTIME
OF 1984
THE BAND HAD NO MONEY
BUT THE WEATHER WAS SUNNY
AND PEOPLE CRIED FOR MORE
ALL THE FANS SANG TOGETHER
IN A SPECIAL WAY ONE SONG THEY
MADE COMMUNICATION FUNNY
IT WAS LIKE A PARADISE
I HAD THE TIME OF MY LIFE
TIME OF MY LIFE
I HAD THE TIME OF MY LIFE
TIME OF MY LIFE
WE DIDN'T PAY FOR A TICKET
OR A HOTEL - SUITE
THE WHOLE WORLD PAID THE FEE
WE WERE THE GUESTS OF THE NATION
ON EVERY STATION
ON RADIO AND TV
WERE ON THE ROAD IN EUROPE
PLAYIN' CONCERTS ALWAYS LIVE
BUT GOD ONLY KNOWS
HOW MANY PLAYBACK- SHOWS
WE DID IN OUR LIFE
I HAD THE TIME OF MY LIFE ...
NANANA NANANANANANA NANANA...
PEOPLE SANG ALONG:
NANANA NANANANANANA NANANA...
I HAD THE TIME OF MY LIFE
Opus's "Time Of My Life" is a song that reminisces about a memorable performance that the band gave in the summer of 1984. The lyrics describe the band's state of affairs at the time: broke and without money, but despite that, they managed to pull off an unforgettable concert that their fans immensely enjoyed. The ambiance was surreal on that day, as the weather was sunny, the crowd was wild, and the people cried for more. The song's catchy tune, coupled with the nostalgic lyrics, allows the listener to imagine what it must have been like to be in the crowd that day.
The lyrics highlight the unique bond that people form when they come together to enjoy music. The band joins in with the rhythm, and all their fans sing to the beat in unison, giving the concert an ethereal feel. The atmosphere was so electric that the crowd wanted to hear one song twice. The band describes that moment where they felt like they were in paradise. They had the time of their life, which is evident as they repeat the line, "I had the time of my life" twice in the chorus.
The song also highlights the freedom that comes with being a musician. The lyrics explain that as the band travelled across Europe playing concerts, they never had to pay for a ticket or hotel suite because the whole world paid their fee. They were guests of the nation, and their music was on every station and broadcast on radio and TV. As the audience sang "nanana nananana," the lyrics convey the euphoric energy that the concert must have generated.
