I’ve been a big fan since the early 90’s.
I’ve tried to avoid this song for a long time though.

IDK, hard to explain. My husband and I were both army for many years.
Military brought us together and it tore us apart, I was widowed at age 32.

The same year my best friend took his last breath in my arms and I was injured in the line of duty.

Perhaps I’ve been afraid of the memories and feelings this song speaks to.

I know facing what’s difficult is the only way to begin healing.
I’m doing ok now, many veterans are not.

I’m so thankful that we’re no longer at combat in Iraq, Afghanistan or Syria.
After 15 years addressing the disgraceful suicide epidemic in the veteran community is long overdue.

25 veterans die at their own hand daily on American soil due to lack of resources.

Thank you Green Day for shining a light and being a voice for those suffering in silence.

This masterpiece verbalizes not all injuries are physical for me.

I NEEDED to hear this.

If anyone reads this please check in with the vets in your life. Many have lost any peer support and are isolated without hope.

May sound trivial but reaching out to a veteran absolutely could save a life today.

GD is a huge supporter of our troops. Not combat but our troops that have been at war for 20 years.

21 Guns has a VERY somber and poignant meaning in the military.

When an fallen troop is laid to rest a 21 Gun Salute is the most poignant recognition of their sacrifice.

21 Guns IS a distinct honor for our fallen men and women.
This song was written about our fallen service members.

Additionally when the song was written we were losing 21 veterans daily to suic@de on American soil.

Of course the suic@de epidemic in the veteran community was referenced in this tribute too.

This song is about those who died for our freedoms.
Those who fell in combat and our soldiers that die at their own hand.

MANY Green Day songs are tribute to our troops.

It’s so sad knowing how many vets depended on peer support groups that were closed due to Covid.
So many vets struggle to find any help and support.
Being forced into isolation makes many feel completely hopeless.
I wonder if we, the public will ever know how many people lost their battle with PTS as a direct result of losing support due to Covid.

October 1, 2020. I maybe 10 years late. But yes it is the first time i was able to see this. Big green day fan since 2004. I love the original 21 guns, but damn this one is great also. I'm a big metal fan here but, with what's happening now all over the world. The corona virus, natural disasters, countries falling apart. I didn't notice my tears are falling while watching this.... The original is a great song.
This... This is ART. The added key changes at verse 2, the bridge and going into the last chorus bring so much more to the song, and the backing vocals behind the second half of each verse and the sheer passion of the performers elevate this to the level of sheer genius.
It misses off the heart-breaking little taunt by "Heather" over the last held chord, but hey, it's punched me in the gut enough times already...

The only way to improve on this, IMO, would be to include the guitar solo from the original version after the bridge - although I may be biased because that's what we did when we performed this back in 2019.

My all time favorite song! I can’t believe the we’re is actually missing out on feeling the goosebumps hearing a group of people harmonizing to sing a song with all their hearts, to numbing over choirs these days that are mostly just the computer-altered voices from a single singer layered over one another. Considering this is such a depressing song about heartbreak, it's amazing seeing so much positivity in this video, with these people singing this song, wish I could be this happy and positive. But I am unfortunately going through this exact same situation, my heart is being broken by my boyfriend atm, who has suddenly started neglecting me and cancelling schedules over and over to spend time with me. It's breaking my heart, and making me feel like I'm not wanted or matter anymore, and I just don't know what to do anymore, 1:47 is what always hits me the hardest, because this is so accurate with how I'm feeling, and exactly what my current situation is, just feel so hopeless rn, like nothing's ever gonna get better 😢 Being neglected by my boyfriend and having plans cancelled to spend time with me, constantly, is sending my thoughts in ruins, and I just feel like I'm not in control of it anymore, and it's effecting what little self-esteem and self-worth I had for myself terribly, and, as a result of it, like the song says, I'm 'in ruins.' But seeing this video, all this positivity, lifted my spirit a little, even made me cry, I needed to see this.
