Pantomime
Orgy Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

they feel they've raised her
the new queen of evolution
her fate won't see to that
cause we're gonna know her later
grab that girl
get her home
let's put her on restriction
last time we let her go
she missed 2 days of school
let's get her back
get her back

this feels like a real life fantasy
it feels like you
this feels like a real life fantasy
it feels like you

relaxed in vermin life
takes place of feeling bad
so you tried it
recalling memories
of charm school pantomime turned so bad
dainty socialite
she changed her point of view
and now she's bad
can't hide it
i think she really liked
all the things that she learned

this feels like a real life fantasy
it feels like you
this feels like a true fantasmasy
it feels like you
this feels like a real life fantasy
it feels like you
this feels like a real life fantasy
it feels like you

be a good girl like your supposed to
dominate your fears
be a good girl like your supposed to
dominate your fears
be a good girl like your supposed to
dominate your fears
good girls like you should be
i think you better know

this feels like a real life fantasy
it feels like you
this feels like a true fantasmasy
it feels like you
this feels like a real life fantasy
it feels like you
this feels like a true fantasmasy
it feels like you
this feels like a real life fantasy
it feels like you

this feels like a real life fantasy
it feels like you.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Orgy's song Pantomime explore the societal pressure on young women to conform to certain standards and the consequences of rebellion. The first verse describes a group of people who have raised a young girl to be the "new queen of evolution," but they fear that her fate will not reflect their expectations. The singer and her friends then proceed to "grab that girl" and "put her on restriction" to ensure she conforms to their idea of a good girl. The second verse explores the consequences of rebellion, as the once-dainty socialite has turned bad, unable to hide her true self. The chorus repeats the refrain "this feels like a real life fantasy, it feels like you," which could imply that the singer's rebellion is a form of escapism, allowing her to feel like her true, authentic self.

The repetition of the phrase "it feels like you" throughout the song invokes a sense of familiarity and personal connection, as though the lyrics are describing the listener's own experience with societal pressure and rebellion. The use of the imperative "be a good girl like you're supposed to" further emphasizes this pressure and the consequences of nonconformity. Overall, the lyrics of Pantomime suggest that societal pressure to conform can lead to rebellion and a sense of personal fulfillment, but also carries consequences.

The drumming on this album is so underrated it actually pisses me off

It really is amazing. This and Revival are my favorite drums on the album. Blue Monday too of course, the back half is actually better in my opinion.

@mrymex

This band deserves more. Pity
