Origin
Origin Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Slumber in death, we are unborn, absent of mind, time is a womb
Darkness
Out of the dark, into the light, luck and a chance
Spawning of life
Born into this uncertainty by chance, from origin inception of matter
itself, all forms of life, born to be dead to live again
Then die
Constantly change evolution, born to be dead, dead to be born
Evolving is in harmony with death
Insuring the progression of all life
All things are born from the universe, and all things shall die!!!

Lifeless, inanimate, breeding inhabitant space
Resting eternally, dwelling infinity, lost but not
Endless activity, lasting divinity, time
Forever mystery, we have eternity for life and death

Evolving is in harmony with death
All things are born from the dead
Insuring the progression of all life
All things with life come forth from the dead

All life forms born into eternal emptiness have but one,
Just one chance
To be born into this well of eternity, born to die
Born to die
All things are born from the dead

All things with life come forth from the dead
All that is dead must give life, then all shall die

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of the song Origin by the metal band Origin contemplate the concepts of life and death, evolution and the cycle of existence. The song begins by describing death as a state of slumber, an absence of consciousness that precedes birth. Time is presented as a womb, a space where life is gestated before being born into a world of uncertainty. The lyrics then move from darkness to light, depicting the chance and luck that accompanies the emergence of life from the void. This is the spawning of life, the beginning of a journey towards death and rebirth.

The cycle of existence is presented as an endless process of evolution, where death is not the end but a transformative phase. Evolving is in harmony with death, and it ensures the progression of all life forms. The lyrics raise existential questions about the purpose of life and its relationship to the universe. All things are born from the universe, and all things shall die. The cycle of life and death is a fundamental part of the cosmos, an eternal mystery that transcends human understanding.

The song's message is not one of despair but of resilience and acceptance. Life is a gift, an opportunity to experience the wonder and beauty of existence. Death is not the end but a necessary step towards transformation and renewal. The lyrics of Origin are a celebration of life's complexity and meaning, a tribute to the power of music to explore the most profound aspects of human existence.

It’s so bizarre that this story ever got any accolades at all.

Wait, you mean humans have out groups and in groups and ::gasp:: have historically constructed societies based on innate human instincts?

YOU DON’T SAY! 🤣🤣

It’s almost embarrassing how we infantilize black persons, but especially black women by handing them awards for doing the bare minimum.

Even the trailer tries to frame this as some kind of a scientific discovery and not just more gender studies graduate fifth grade comprehension nonsense.

Caste is living reality in India , every corner you go you see caste in one or the other form . Caste still dictates the social life in India.

But those upper caste MFs don't want the world to know about it. One day whole world will know how filthy India's Sanatan/Hindu Dharma is. Now the right in India has appointed some intellectual impostors who talk about how Caste system wasn't in original Hindu religion but it came from Britishers etc kinda bs but those MFs become blind when a Dalit (formerly untouchable)is killed on the name of his caste. I'm so satisfied that world is discussing about Caste system of Hinduism now. I know there are caste system in other religions too but nowhere this is based on purity and pollution as it is in Hinduism.

@JP ANotice how you piggybacked on a comment about a white actor to mention a black girl? Kind of corny.
