I'm gonna take a freight train, down at the station
I don't care where it goes
Gonna climb me a mountain, the highest mountain, Lord,
Gonna jump off, nobody gonna know

Can't you see, can't you see, what that woman, she been doin' to me
Can't you see, can't you see, what that woman been doin' to me
I'm gonna find me a hole in the wall, gona crawl inside and die
That lady, mean ol' woman Lord, done told me goodbye

Can't you see, can't you see, what that woman she been doin' to me
Can't you see, can't you see, what that woman been doin' to me
Gonna buy me a ticket now, as far as I can, ain't never comin' back
Take me Southbound, all the way to Georgia now, till the train run

Out of track

Can't you see, can't you see, what that woman, she been doin' to me
Can't you see, can't you see, what that woman been doin' to me

Overall Meaning

The song 'It's You' combines two different musical genres: rock and country music, and is performed by the Original Broadway Cast. The song is about a man who is heartbroken and decides to leave town and go on a journey. He first talks about taking a freight train from the station without any destination in mind. This is followed by him expressing a desire to climb the highest mountain and jump off it without anyone knowing. The second part of the song reveals that the reason for his sadness is a woman who has done him wrong. He is trying to convey to the listener that he has been wronged and it has resulted in his despair. He can't bear to see her anymore, so he decides to crawl into a hole and die.
