Between reality, and pretend;
It can be hard to separate the truth from what you want to believe.

You cannot discern the true value of something until you've put forth effort and achieved success.

If it was worth the uphill climb.
Determining if the struggle was worth the outcome can only be recognized after the challenge has been overcome.

Between love,
The differentiation between feelings of deep affection and other emotions is tenuous.

And a waste of time
It is difficult to tell whether a relationship or pursuit is worth the effort or if it is simply a futile endeavor.

Between a fairy tale, and a lie.
Sometimes, it is challenging to differentiate between an idealized version of a situation versus an outright falsehood.

Again, there is an easily blurred distinction

Between 'you're wonderful' and 'goodbye'.
The transition from abundant praise to dismissal can be abrupt and subtle.

I guess if someone doesn't love you back
It is not necessarily a moral wrong if someone does not reciprocate one's feelings.

It isn't such a crime
It is not innately evil to not share the same sentiment as another person.

But there's a fine, fine line
The line between love and futility, again, is very thin.

Between together,
The decision of whether to be united is oftentimes hard to determine.

And not.
The possibility of division is always present when deciding to enter a relationship.

Once again, the line between different states of being is precarious.

Between what you wanted,
The perception of what an individual desires can change over time or upon further consideration.

And what you got.
The notion of having achieved one's goals does not guarantee that the end result is fulfilling or satisfactory.

You gotta go after the things you want
It is essential to pursue what one desires.

While you're still in your prime.
One should not wait too long to act if they wish to have the best chance of attaining what they want.

And I don't have the time to waste on you anymore.
I cannot expend any more effort on this endeavor.

I don't think that you even know what you're looking for.
I do not believe you have a clear understanding of your own goals.

For my own sanity I've got to close the door
I must discontinue this situation for the sake of my own mental health.

I must fully separate myself from this situation.
