Alexander Hamilton had a torrid affair
And he wrote it down right there
Highlights
The charge against me
Is a connection with one
James Reynolds
For purposes of
Improper speculation
My real crime is an
Amorous connection with his wife
For a considerable time
With his knowing consent
I had frequent meetings with her
Most of them at my own house
At his own house
At his own house
Damn
Mrs. Hamilton with our children being absent
On a visit to her father
No
Boo
Have you read this?
Well, he's never gon' be President now
Never gon' be President now
Well, he's never gon' be President now
Never gon' be President now
He's never gon' be President now
Never gon' be President now
That's one less thing to worry about
That's one less thing to worry about
I came as soon as I heard
What?
Angelica
All the way from London?
Damn
Angelica, thank God
Someone who understands what I'm struggling here to do
I'm not here for you
Oh
I know my sister like I know my own mind
You will never find anyone as trusting or as kind
I love my sister more than anything in this life
I will choose her happiness over mine every time
Put what we had aside
I'm standing at her side
You could never be satisfied
God, I hope you're satisfied
Well, he's never gon' be President now (never gon' be President now)
Well, he's never gon' be President now (never gon' be President now)
Well, he's never gon' be President now (never gon' be President now)
That's one less thing to worry about (that's one less thing to worry about)
Hey (he's never gonna be President now)
At least he was honest with our money
Hey (he's never gonna be President now)
He's never gon' be President now
He's never gon' be President now
At least he was honest with our money
That's one less thing to worry about

You ever see somebody ruin their own life?
His poor wife
The Reynolds Pamphlet is a song that portrays the aftermath of Alexander Hamilton's affair with Mariah Reynolds. The lyrics start by directly referencing the most discussed topic at the time which was the "pamphlet" that Hamilton wrote to clear his name. The song highlights that the allegation against Alexander Hamilton was that he had a connection with James Reynolds for "improper speculation" but the actual crime was his affair with James Reynolds’ wife. The lyrics highlight the fact that the affair was with James Reynolds consent and not rape as previously assumed by the public.
Throughout the song, Angelica, Alexander Hamilton's sister-in-law expresses her loyalty to her sister over her brother-in-law. She expresses how she loves her sister more than anything and that she is standing by her throughout the ordeal. Meanwhile, Alexander Hamilton is still trying to justify his actions by discussing how he was honest with his money. The chorus is repeated several times throughout the song to emphasize the impact that the pamphlet had on Hamilton's future prospects.
Overall, the song portrays the consequences that come with public scandals and how the public and personal lives of public officials intersect in a problematic manner.

The fact that king George had no idea who this dude was but came just to dance on his misery is immaculate

I honestly don't really like the fact that King George what there. Like he literally had no reason to be in this song. Like everyone else is connected to this somehow, but King George is just there, dancing on the stage, for no reason. I really like him in his own songs, but I just hate he's here in this song, it's kind of annoying.
