The band released their EP The Sound And The Fury in 2006 on Hotfoot Records.
Since ancient Greece, Orion has been known as a mythological hero immortalized in the stars. There is now a new chapter: Orion., the Long Island , New York progressive post-hardcore band, has rewritten the myth with their debut EP "The Sound and The Fury".
As Hotfoot Records' second release, "The Sound and The Fury" has been turning heads in Orion.'s direction. "Orion. just might be a scene savior," claims Smother Magazine. But saving the scene is only the first step for these five Long Island boys. The Music Appraisal claims, "They should be able to reinvent the genres..." With upcoming label-sponsored advertisements in Alternative Press and Blender, the buzz surrounding Orion. will only grow louder.
A high-school hobby that became a lifestyle, Orion. was the fruition of vocalist Jay Schombs, and Guitarists Evan Hess and Craig Dauernheim. After playing their first show to a packed house with Underoath (Solid State / Tooth & Nail), the boys soon knew Orion. had become their life. Shows followed with bands like As Tall As Lions (Triple Crown), Anterrabae (Triple Crown), Bear Vs. Shark (Equal Vision), The Bled (Vagrant), Circa Survive (Equal Vision), From First To Last (Epitaph), Gatsby's American Dream (Fearless), Permanent Me (Stolen Transmission), and The Sleeping (Victory). Orion. has also played Official MySpace.com parties and were voted finalists to play the 2006 Taste of Chaos tour. After a series of rhythm section changes, Gino Romeo and Greg Melgarejo were added to solidify Orion. and insure they would be able to tour relentlessly in support of "The Sound and The Fury".
After hearing Orion.'s "The Sound and The Fury" and witnessing Orion's diligence and the intensity of their live performance it seems logical when Impact Press asks, "Have you ever seen those Victory Records advertisements?" that they will claim, "Orion. will soon be the new feature." But the boys of Orion. don't plan to stop there. They have a much bigger hero to overcome.
Their network of bands/friends: The Sleeping, Bedlight For Blue Eyes, Seer, Magnetic North, Novemberkills, The Varsity, Glory Of This, Southside Panic, The Miracle Of You, A Girl A Gun A Ghost, Valeyra, Jet Set You, Secret Lives Of The Freemasons.

Mona Lisa
Orion. Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You're so like the lady with the mystic smile
Is it only cause you're lonely they have blamed you
For that Mona Lisa strangeness in your smile
Do you smile to tempt a lover Mona Lisa?
Or is this your way to hide a broken heart?
Many dreams have been brought to your doorstep
They just lie there, and they die there
Or just a cold and lonely, lovely work of art.
Do you smile to tempt a lover Mona Lisa?
Or is this your way to hide a broken heart?
Many dreams have been brought to your doorstep
They just lie there, and they die there
Are you warm, are you real Mona Lisa?
Or just a cold and lonely, lovely work of art.
Mona Lisa, Mona Lisa.
Orion.'s song Mona Lisa is a tribute to Leonardo da Vinci's famous portrait of the same name. The lyrics reflect on the mystery behind the subject's smile and what it may represent. The first verse asks, "Mona Lisa, Mona Lisa men have named you, You're so like the lady with the mystic smile, Is it only cause you're lonely they have blamed you, For that Mona Lisa strangeness in your smile." Here, the singer wonders if the famous smile is a product of loneliness or if it is a conscious attempt to hide a "broken heart."
The second verse repeats the question, "Do you smile to tempt a lover Mona Lisa? Or is this your way to hide a broken heart?" The lyrics then suggest that Mona Lisa has been the subject of many dreams, but they have all been unfulfilled. The final lines ask, "Are you warm, are you real Mona Lisa? Or just a cold and lonely, lovely work of art." The song ultimately portrays Mona Lisa as a complex and enigmatic figure, much like the painting itself.
