I dunno, this doesn't give me a hopeless feel. Maybe it's just my personality, but to me this is more of a feeling like...I guess to put it into words, "Well...okay, we keep moving."
I can see some people think of that as hopeless, but to me, that means you're still alive. You can still fight. For those that live on, you must gather yourself and move. You're still breathing for a reason, make something of it!
Again, perhaps this is just the way my personality reacts to...well...the apocalypse, haha. :)
EDIT: Or, alternatively, when the big bad summons a dragon, for you to say "Oh come ON! Well...guess we're slaying a dragon today!"
