Secret Love
Oscar Peterson Joe Pass Niels-Henning Pedersen Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Once I had a secret love,
That lived within the heart of me
All too soon my secret love,
Became impatient to be free

So I told a friendly star,
The way that dreamers often do
Just how wonderful you are,
And why I'm so in love with you

Now, I shout it from the highest hills
Even told the golden daffodils
At last my hearts an open door,

And my secret love's
No secret anymore.

The first album I bought of Oscar Peterson's and I've never enjoyed any of his recordings more. It was 1975 and I'd been watching him late at night in b&w on the Night Train TV show.

@mickifri2

In one of his tutorials JP told he never use more than three strings if he's involved in a band. Listen how it works.

@zenobardot

That's the secret that many electric guitar players miss. Your harmonies can often register better when you imply them using 2-3 notes. Even if there's no piano, nothing to necessary "cut through". Can even be effective in solo guitar contexts.
