Managua Linda Managua
Otto de la Rocha Lyrics

Managua linda Managua, limpia bonita y serrana

Managua linda Managua, india valiente y graciosa

Managua linda Managua, tinajita pinolera,
Quiero beber gota a gota tus lagrimas puras mi linda cipota

Managua linda Managua
Managua linda Managua

Managua linda Managua
Managua linda Managua

Overall Meaning

Otto de la Rocha's song "Managua linda Managua" is a tribute to the beauty of the Nicaraguan capital city. The first verse praises Managua as a clean and beautiful city with a scent of new wheat and people wearing new clothes. The second verse highlights the physical beauty of the women of Managua. They are proud of their braids and fancy hairstyles, charming and coquettish, and their blouses tremble causing many hearts to skip a beat. The chorus repeats the words "Managua linda Managua" multiple times, emphasizing the love and admiration for the city.

The third verse is a love letter to Managua. The city is described as a brave and gracious Indian, fragrant like a flower, and breathtaking like rain and sun. The two volcanoes-like breasts of Managua which burst out like flowers every morning are compared to the beauty of the city. The fourth verse refers to the traditional pottery of Managua called tinajas, and how the singer wants to drink from them drop by drop, and lose his patience and innocence, by tasting the purity of Managua. The final verse praises the grand valley which gives Managua its elegance and importance, and describes the city as a leader of dance and music.
