What would you do if you had one chance – a chance to make a difference, to make a change? Therein lies a moment of clarity found only from an awakening within. Would you make the most of this waking moment? This moment is, for all of us – Our Waking Hour
The concept of a movement was conceived nearly three years ago. Our Waking Hour came together to create music that would have a lasting effect on listener’s emotions. The band strives to write songs that deliver a positive message of hope. Blending modern rock/alternative with hard rock, Our Waking Hour’s music has been compared to bands such as Red, 30 Seconds to Mars, Evans Blue, Linkin Park and more. Despite the comparisons, Our Waking Hour retains a sound all their own.
Our Waking Hour hails from San Antonio Texas, a city known more for its metal/thrash metal scene than modern/alternative rock. To this challenge, the band came up with a different strategy for carving out their niche. A decision was made early on to finish a full length album before playing any shows. An EP would not do. Their diligence paid off with the release of the debut album titled ‘Seconds To Save Her’. The title alluding to a point at which one acts upon their waking moment to save ‘her’. ‘Her’ referencing ones own life or another.
The band recorded the album at AMH Studios, which is operated by Aaron Harvey, the band’s drummer. Aaron engineered and helped produce the album with the band’s guitarist Erik Seime. Throughout the recording process, Our Waking Hour released a few songs to social media sites – a move that proved to be effective at grabbing listener’s attention. ‘Seconds To Save Her’ was released on iTunes June 14th 2011 to anxious fans in the United States as well as over 14 other countries world wide

Broken promises, endless shattered dreams.
Open my heart, take all that you need,
Strip me of my pride – I am empty.
I just hope that you will see
When nothing's left of me in view,
I do it all for you
I take back everything that ever let you down.
I'll sacrifice anything to welcome new sunrise.
Goodnight to misery, it will not run my life.
I built up these walls,
Hoping that no one could tear them down.
But amongst me lies the rubble now,
And the dust has filled the air.
Once my battlefield now a battle failed in fear,
Fearing I'm the one that would hurt you.
I just hope that you will see
When nothing's left of me in view.
I did it all for you
I take back everything that ever let you down.
I could not live knowing that I had let it drown.
I'll sacrifice anything to welcome new sunrise.
Goodnight to misery, it will not run my life.
I did it all for you
I take back everything that ever let you down.
I could not live knowing that I had let it drown.
I'll sacrifice anything to welcome new sunrise.
Goodnight to misery, it will not run my life.
The lyrics to Our Waking Hour's song 'Goodnight Misery' tell a story of someone who is willing to do anything to make things right with the person they love. The first verse describes the singer's shattered dreams and the pain they have caused their loved one. They offer themselves up completely, hoping that their partner can see that they are doing everything for them, despite being left empty and stripped of pride. The verse ends with the determination to take back everything that has ever disappointed their loved one and to sacrifice anything for a new beginning.
The second verse reveals the singer's struggle to maintain the walls they have built up around them, which have ultimately crumbled. They thought they could protect themselves from causing more harm, but they now fear that they will be the one to hurt their loved one. The verse ends with the same plea for their partner to see that everything they do is for them and their future together.
The chorus repeats the same message multiple times, emphasizing the singer's willingness to sacrifice everything to put an end to their misery and rebuild their life with their loved one.
Overall, the song speaks to the universal theme of redemption and the lengths people will go to repair relationships and start anew.
