"In those days the scene was different, not better, just different," says Coyle. "There werent as many labels or bands doing what we were doing or saying the things we were saying. You could reach more people it seemed because the idea of putting out your own music seemed like something only a few people knew how to do".
Outspoken instantly found comraderie with bands such as Inside Out, Insted, Judge and Chain of Strength. The band continued writing songs with Dan Adair leaving the band, and Jae Hansel (Mean Season taking over for him on bass. Wanting to increase the power of their sound, they also added Travis Guichard (also from Mean Season). Shortly after that Outspoken went into For the Record Studios in Orange, CA. to record the CD that for many, would come to define the mid-90s hardcore sound.
The band decided to call it quits in 1994, playing a sold out show with a bunch of up and coming hardcore bands at the Ice House in Fullerton.

Now the time passes by
You cover bruises with your excuses again
But when you ask yourself, "Why?"
Everyone around you seems to be alright
You know you could have played it off
But you started sweating, sweating, sweating
Now
Now
And now the ghost is alive
This apparition has taken over your life
And every time you ask, "Why?"
You never have to pay back what you leave behind
And every time you talk it out
The time keeps on ticking, ticking, ticking
'Till one day it's over, over
Now
Now
You're not the victim here
You know the time is
Now
Now
Don't give in on the way down
Now, you'll never have to leave me
Now, you'll never have to leave from this place
To a much better place
But when everything is over
And your head is all clear
I will be right there waiting for you to be here
(The time is, the time is now)
(The time is, the time is now)
(The time is now)
But once you go and cross the line
You can't re-cross that line
Execution style is not the way to go
And every time you blow it out
The fuse keeps getting shorter, shorter, shorter
'Till one day it blows up in your face
Now
Now
Get up off your ass, you know the time is
Now
Now
Change your pathetic life
You know the time is
Now
Now
But don't give in on the way down
Now
The song "Now" by Outspoken is a powerful anthem about taking action and facing the consequences of our choices. The first verses talk about someone who is struggling, trying to hide their pain and justify their bruises with excuses. But the chorus encourages them to stop stalling and face the truth, to seize the moment and take control of their life. The lyrics warn against giving in to anger, resentment or despair, because those negative emotions can turn into a destructive ghost that haunts us forever. However, the song also offers hope and support, promising that there is a better place and someone who will wait for us to get there, as long as we don't give up on the way down.
The final verses of "Now" emphasize the urgency of the message, stating that once we cross a certain line, we can't go back and we risk blowing up in our own face. The tone of the song is assertive and aggressive, with a fast-paced rhythm and intense vocals. Outspoken's lyrics promote resilience, self-awareness, and accountability, urging listeners to stop procrastinating and use their energy wisely. Overall, "Now" is a call to action and a reminder that time waits for no one.
