The band, originally a four-piece, started out on Negative Progression Records. After gaining a small but solid fan base, the band was picked up by Lobster Records, on which they released Timing Is Everything in 2002, and Silverstrand in 2005. Silverstrand chronicles the band's move to southern California, and is their most focused work to date. Recently, the band added former Don't Look Down front man Ryan Ogren as an extra guitar player, and released their Virgin Records debut, Step Outside Yourself in late August 2006.

Over It Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Wonæ?° the world come knocking down your door
Just to call it progress to make you sigh!
Because it weirds me out
To hear the angels call
All the way from their coast.
When theyæ?®e siren song is the only hook
Now Itæ?¯ time to face my choice, let there be no mistake
Let it ring, cause Iæ?³e landed on this rock with all my friends
And well fight to make our peace with life,
(å??å??å??å??orry about next time, next time)
And take up our arms like sitcom soldiers.
And take up our arms and fight till time leaves us alone.
These lyrics seem to express a sense of discomfort with the idea of progress and advancement. The first line references the saying "if you build a better mousetrap, the world will beat a path to your door," which suggests that if you create something superior, people will naturally come to you. However, the following lines suggest that this is not necessarily a positive thing. The concept of progress is described as making one "sigh," which implies a sense of disappointment or even despair. Additionally, the angels' "siren song" is depicted as dangerous, rather than alluring or inspiring.
The next stanza suggests a desire for something that fits "the key of all my dreams." This could be interpreted as a yearning for a life that aligns with one's deepest desires and aspirations. The singer seems to be contemplating their choices and the direction of their life. They ultimately decide to stay with their friends and "fight to make our peace with life," rather than worrying about the next opportunity or next time. The phrase "take up our arms like sitcom soldiers" creates an interesting juxtaposition between the idea of fighting and the often lighthearted, comedic nature of sitcoms.
Overall, the lyrics seem to be grappling with complex ideas around progress, choices, and the pursuit of one's dreams. The language is somewhat ambiguous, leaving room for multiple interpretations and layers of meaning.
