Spoiler alert
As in most modern romance novel Luke and Vivan seems more in lust than in love. I don't mind a little lust, but where has the romance gone!

I do like the dates!😂 I also like the corner office fight!

Also I know this is just a novel, but having been to therapy myself Luke's behaviour is both wrong and unlikely!
For example Luke giving therapy to Teagan and then kissing Vivian! No half-decent therapist would do that! Besides him stealing Vivian's clients is just silly!

This was a wonderful book! Well crafted and and very descriptive. Vivian is very unlikable while Lucas was very likable and funny. I also love the reader and the way she switches her voice and doesn’t sound robotic.

Good story. I lived it vividly. Funny and entertaining. With a reality flavor. Love the sparks between the two main characters. Not a boring romantic silly story. With chirping birds and everything is perfect or way way out of reality. Just an unadulterated love story. With all the hate, unwillingness to be the first to give in, ups and downs and nobody had to get hit by a car or get amnesia. Believable. It could be your neighbors or even your story. I'm gonna see about the next one. great job.

How can Vivian be mad at Lucas when he took her clients from under her nose? Especially since he is actually helping them to not give up on each other.

To me it comes across as he's meddling in her career. Less clients = less money = no college fund for her daughter. However on a more complex level it's about her own sordid past with love. She's a cynic, she's been burned, she probably doesn't believe real true love can exist. So she sees Lucas as giving these couples false hope because you “can't fix a marriage in an hour” which is, to be fair, true. Almost every marriage can work if people put enough effort into it but most people don't want to do the work and she knows that. She kinda seems to assume Lucas as sort of a conman because she doesn't believe a love that soured can be helped. I think it lines up with her character pretty well even if her perspective is wrong.

I read the book! It's an enemies to lovers story which portrays enemies falling in love in a natural, realistic way. I really enjoyed the read and will probably listen to the audiobook, too.

I rarely leave comments, but I just have so much thoughts about this novel that I need to unload it all XDD To start with, I can't quite figure out how exactly I feel about the story. Lucas as a character is amazing. He is fun and very likable. He is simply consistently wonderful. Whenever his POV is going on, it's a treat and how he acted towards the end was actually very endearing for me. Vivian, on the other hand, is just--I don't like her. Don't get me wrong, I understand she has some trauma or painful past going on, and sometimes, it's just hard to change our minds to be optimistic about something that severely broke us. However--and perhaps I'm a silly optimistic person regarding this matter--I find that her letting her past trap/restrict/control her present is just obnoxious. Too obnoxious for my liking. To the point I keep cursing whenever she starts being mean and rude. She's a cynic, fine; but that doesn't excuse her to not be a humble person. The way her POV goes, I can't help but feel she's full of herself. That she can't do any wrong. Meanwhile, Lucas quickly realizes that he made a mistake and tried to rectify it. Vivian? She just can't help being rude. Overall, I may not like Vivian (seriously, I understand the whole theme of the novel is opposite attracts, but when it comes to attitude, I find it ridiculous), but I learned a few things from her. One of them is to not overthink and quickly assume the worst. Anyway, despite Vivian being my least favorite character in the story, I think it's quite amazing that I still find myself finishing the entire story. And because of that, I feel the author is very good! Even with an obnoxious character, I still find myself hooked with the story and just wanting to find out what happens next. If this happens IRL, I feel Lucas deserves a better person. But at the same time, one can't really make someone else change the melody of their heart, so all we can do is hope for the best for them.

Again, I like the guy. I actually never end up liking Vivian. Not at all! SHe's a hypocrite and for someone that's supposedly so smart she can't grasp even the primary points of his profession, though they are similar to hers?!! Nope! This one had A LOT of cussing too. Don't let this reflect on the author, because I have read a couple of her books, maybe even three that I REALLY liked. I think we aren't going to always like the main chracters, but I usually do.

A very enjoyable story - I would have won or lost this woman in a lot less time. - She would have been mine for keeps. We would have had to have met before 1960 as that is when I met My Wife! - We are still married - lots of credits to Anne.

Twenty seven minutes in and the only reason I am still listening is because I have had heard two of her other books and really liked them, even loved one so much. Vivian is not likable at all, I don't even like her name, it fits her too well! To not be able to even stand a character and want to just "toss" the book because of her is alarming. I will be patient for a bit, because of her other works..,

Well, Ms. Isley, I've never particularly cared for romance or romcom genres having preferred mysteries and adventures but now days characters seem to talk so roughly, coarsely or uncaringly to each other that I'm beginning to take refuge, even hope, in romantic characters...snarky soon tames and love prevails. Thank you for posting this, I look forward to discovering more of your works. Great narration.

I agree 100%!!! She's not a lovable person, she isn't even just a prickly porcupine with soft insides. She's lucky if she can be compared to a sea urchin! I have been, and many others too, hurt, burned, used, tossed aside, what have you... if you let that shape you, you let that person win! You have to rise above and walk on! I hate everything about her, from her name on....was just thinking, maybe she's cranky every work day because she's wearing lace underwear!! Why not go for comfort underneath and power business on top? Save lace for when you plan to show it off. JS she was grouchy for more reasons than was said.

Agreed. I understand that she had it rough in her past and her circumstances definitely show in her behavior. Not likable but I guess her opposite character to the very kind Luke makes sense to the story. Her bitchy behavior serves a purpose. If IRL, I wouldn’t date her as she sounds exhausting to be around. As for Luke, he sounds like such a gentle person and would totally take him home to meet mom and dad.

Nice book to listen to but the relationship between the main characters is quite cheesy and luke should have left Vivian alone. I can imagine those two would need a divorce lawer in the future 😂😂 the inclusion of all the failed dates was entertaining though.

Yes!!! I gave it until 27 minutes until I got to the point you did. She is a horrible person! She doesn't even have a real excuse boo hoo, one thing in her life went wrong, but she made the CHOICE! I did listen because I needed something to play as I went to sleep and didn't want to look for anything else, but regret it. The lady just sucks!
