I slept on the floor like a vagrant
I braved a Minnesota winter night
And drove to a movie feeling lonely
And as I thawed my heart out by the light
Of the silver screen
I was unaware that you were there
Was climbing up the stairs
And what I thought
In the parking lot
Was like, I just wanna know your name
I drove away
With not much to say
But in my hand I held a paper bird
And written on it were the words
Be brave
Wildflower knew I wasn't well
But on the kitchen floor I got better again
I grabbed my keys and drove toward a star
And there, I was understood for the first time in my life
'Cause that's when I was introduced to true
Serendipity
I knew it when
You showed up again
In the snow, I was always told
Your heart is where you're home
And what I thought
In the coffee shop
Was like, the last eight hours was a dream
I drove away
With not much to say
But in my hand I held a paper bird
And written on it were the words
Oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh
Okay, I'll be brave
Oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh
Okay, I'll be brave
And in my mind
After all this time
I think, ain't life beautiful and strange
I'm blown away
With no words to say
'Cause I, I'll forever be amazed
How I learned the meaning of the phrase
Be brave
Be brave
Be brave
The lyrics of Owl City's song "Be Brave" tell a story of personal growth, self-discovery, and finding courage in challenging situations. The song begins with the singer reminiscing about a time when they were in a difficult place, sleeping on the floor of an empty house and feeling lonely. Despite the harsh winter night, they decide to go to a movie theater to warm their heart. Unbeknownst to them, someone special is also present in the theater, climbing up the stairs.
As the story progresses, the singer finds solace and healing in the company of a person referred to as "Wildflower." This connection brings them a sense of understanding and being truly seen for the first time in their life. The serendipity of their meeting reinforces the idea that the heart is where one finds their true home.
Throughout the song, the refrain "Be brave" serves as a mantra for the singer, a reminder to step out of their comfort zone and face uncertainties with courage. The paper bird mentioned symbolizes a fragile yet meaningful message, representing the importance of vulnerability and taking risks.
In the end, the singer reflects on their journey of self-discovery and marvels at the beauty and strangeness of life. They are left amazed by the meaning behind the phrase "Be brave" and forever changed by their experiences.

This has absolutely blown me away.
In my opinion, I think this is one of the best songs you've ever written Adam. I can hear the new things you've tried with this song, the piano is stunning and the orchestral sounds compliment the song incredibly.
You've REALLY outdone yourself and now more than ever I'm even more excited to hear what comes next from you!
The Expression of May
Absolutely! This has been my favorite Adam Young song the past 2 years. About 9 of 10 times I go to listen to his music, this is the one I put on!

I always liked this song. But never realized how impactful it was until I found myself whispering to myself, "Be Brave" when faced with several different scenarios in real life. Such a simple song but somewhere it has left a lasting impression or imprint on my life. I think we can all relate to this song.
