Umbrella Beach
Owl City Lyrics

Stands and gears, oh how the daisies bloom
When chandeliers light up the engine room
Can you feel the drops as it starts to rain
There's an underwater Ferris wheel where
I found the missing link to this island chain

Home will always be here unseen, out of sight
Where I disappear and hide
I think dreamy things as I'm waving goodbye
So I'll spread out my wings and fly

Home is a boxcar and it's so far out of reach
Hidden under umbrella beach

Home will always be here, unseen, out of sight
Where I disappear and hide
I think dreamy things as I'm waving goodbye
So I'll spread out my wings and fly

I'll spread my wings and fly

Home is a boxcar and it's so far out of reach
Hidden under umbrella beach

The little kid is not committing suicide, he has made a boxcar with wings which will take him from one island, where he is stranded, to another island, where his mother is waiting in their home for him to return. Umbrella Beach is a surreal view of the story of The Prodigal Son. The song is all about how the boy ran away from home, then realized what he had done, and at that, went to great lengths to undo the pain he had caused his mother and thus decided to return back to his home.

'Home will always be here, unseen, out of sight'.

These are his resonating thoughts, memoirs, of home, while he is away and on the run.

That's a very interesting and great interpretation! ! I wouldn't call him The Prodigal son because there's nothing that we see so far that shows that hes wasteful in fact hes quite the opposite. He's industrious. But I definitely agree with you about trying to get from one island to the other. However he could also be trying to escape a mother who might be more interested in this middle class 1970s staid suburban English life. He may want to spread his wings and fly and go elsewhere beyond doors sit ayou're beyond door sit or wherever hes living which I can imagine at that point in The history Britain was Commonwealth very very beautiful, dollsville.

Don't talk like that about a kid
