The first album in 1989 combining the squall of bands like The Birthday Party with elements of free jazz and musique concrète from Oxbow, Fuckfest, met with international success and created a small but loyal following that has grown ever since.
Followed in 1992 by King of the Jews. The menacing The Balls in the Great Meat Grinder Collection also appeared in 1992, and after 1995's Steve Albini-produced Let Me Be a Woman Oxbow signed to the SST label for 1997's Serenade in Red, which featured guest vocals from Marianne Faithfull.
They released a split EP with the Italian band White Tornado in 1999, followed by An Evil Heat in 2002. The compilation Love That's Last: A Wholly Hypnographic and Disturbing Work Regarding Oxbow arrived in 2006.
Wenner has also played with God and Swell.

Oxbow Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Don't think I can live without you
Everything that once was
Is never to be again
Life has lost its taste
Life has lost its taste
And there are 1000 hours in my day
That begin and end without you
Because of one caress
I love you too much
I love you too much
Life has lost me
Life has cost me
And there are 1000 hours in my day
If you go away for good
I know I go away for good
Nothing will be as it is
As it is not as it is now
Life has cost me
Life has lost me
Owned by things
I once owned
Prisoner of things
I once kept close
What would I be without you?
The lyrics in this song speak to the transformative power of love and the immense impact it can have on a person's life. The singer is deeply in love with someone, to the point where they feel that they cannot live without them. The repetition of the line "life has lost its taste" emphasizes the emptiness and purposelessness the singer feels without their beloved.
Additionally, the line "there are 1000 hours in my day" highlights the intense longing and anticipation the singer feels for their partner's presence. They feel like time drags on without them and that even the simplest moments are incomplete without their loved one there to share them.
The second half of the song takes a more ominous turn, as the singer expresses fear and desperation about the idea of their partner leaving them. Without their love, the singer feels like they would be a completely different person - they would no longer have the things that once defined them and would be lost in the absence of their beloved.
Overall, this song is a poignant exploration of the all-encompassing nature of love and the power it has to shape our lives.
