The lyrics of Oxxxymiron's song CCTV describe a person who works in a control room filled with monitors displaying various cameras placed around the city. The singer is the boss of this control room, and he enters turning off the lights and making tea. He feels old and closer to death with every passing year. The screens show people walking down the street, and the singer describes them as indifferent and robotic. He watches all kinds of events, from parties to creditors to drug overdoses to child funerals. He seems to be desensitized to the atrocities he sees, as if he has accepted that it is all part of the job.
The singer has a sense of power and authority, and he sees himself as the supreme observer. He sits in front of a wall of screens, which glows like a giant lizard in the heat. He is fascinated by the spectacle on his screens, and stares at them intensely, as if nothing else exists. The song ends with the singer leaving the control room and walking away with his white stick, tapping it on the pavement.
The song seems to be a commentary on the surveillance society we live in, where cameras are everywhere and our every move can be watched. The singer in the song represents the people who watch and monitor us, and how they may become desensitized to what they see after doing it for so long.
