Its founder and the main creative force was Andrzej "Püdel" Bieniasz, who has been in the band up to now. Püdelsi descended from a legendary alternative act Düpą. On its first album, "Bela Pupa", the band recorded songs with Piotr Marek's lyrics, who had been a vocalist of Düpą and who had died a few months before. Two songs from the album were sung by Maciej Maleńczuk, the rest by the vocalist of Maanam, Kora. Maleńczuk, who earlier had been a busker, thanks to his captivating timbre and great charisma, became a leader of the group. He also turned out to be a gifted author of lyrics, which were often a biting satire. Püdelsi released three next albums: "Viribs Unitis", "Narodziny Zbigniewa - Püdelsi grają Düpą" (with Düpą's songs) and "Psychopop". Although the band reached cult status in certain circles, it remained widely unknown until the release of "Wolność słowa" in 2003. The album was a success and gave the band mainstream popularity. It contained pastiches of various styles: punk, reggae, ska, blues rock, psychedelic rock, metal, operetta, salsa and retro song. In 2005 Maleńczuk left the band and was replaced by Szymon Goldberg. In 2007 Püdelsi released their new album "Zen".
