Overall Meaning

The song "Real Life" by P-Funk is a rap track that revolves around the theme of money and fame in the real world versus the virtual world. The opening lines of the song, "I'm lit in real life, fuck dat internet shit," emphasizes the artist's desire to be acknowledged in the real world while disregarding online fame. He believes that his paper is straight, meaning his money is clean and earned in real life, which is his ultimate goal. He advises his listeners to focus on making money and dancing with it rather than relying on friends or the internet.

The chorus of the song highlights the importance of staying focused and stacking money until it overflows, and the artist vividly describes his lavish lifestyle with lines like "Pulling up to do a show it's bitches wrapped round the building." In the second verse, the rapper talks about the backstabbing nature of people, often referred to as "snakes in da grass." He cautions listeners not to reveal too much about their success because it attracts hate and envy from unscrupulous people.

Ultimately, "Real Life" celebrates making money and basking in the glory of success attained through hard work and dedication. The song's message of ignoring online fame in favor of actual accomplishments resonates with listeners who desire to make it big but are not swayed by the allure of internet fame.

I first got into Funkadelic when Uncle Jam dropped in 1979. Been a huge fan ever since. Got all 193 1/2 albums by the Mob. Gotta say though, that first 5 man lineup with Bernie and Eddie and Billy... they made Funkadelic. They were the real superstars. Eddie especially is so criminally underrated. Bernie got his cred before he died but Eddie never did.

Love is a beautiful thang! They just broke it down, the human interaction was/is so entwined a moment/voice/instrument was instantly inspired by another and so the cogs were built upon each other, Flava just hits ya, funk is soul edification, Reallife art! Salute! Peace! 🙏🏽✊🏾🔥

@muzikman183

There will NEVER be another... and there are some DOPE young bands out today!.. but there wont be another band to do what they did.. I have much respect for what they've been doin these days and hope they come to St. Louis, but it'll never be the same. By the way, MUCH LOVE TO EVERYONE from the P-Funk era. ALL OF THE WOMEN AND OTHER UNSUNG MEMBERS who contributed to the LEGACY of this monster group. George orchestrated much of the goings on, but make no mistake--he was, by far, NOT the only one to build this musical, lyrical, and spiritual funky dynasty. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THE MEMBERS SHOULD GET THEIR DUE RESPECT, GRATITUDE, AND ROYALTIES for shedding their blood, sweat and tears for the good of the FUNK! I challenge YOU to show your love to members of The Brides of Funkenstein, Parlet, Bootsy's Rubberband, The Horny Horns, Quazar, Mutiny, Parliament/Funkadelic, and anyone else you happen to know, see, or cross paths with from this GREAT group of people!! I know I will if I ever get the chance... I love you ALL equally.. Foreva Fonkin On!!

I saw one concert in Denver at the Mile High Stadium in the 70's. One of the best concerts I ever attended. We were swinging low and letting it ride and having fun.
