Pong was formed at Danskebaaten on a study trip to Hamburg, Germany, by drummer Espen Hagstrøm, vocalist Christoffer Karlsen and Phase (Norway)-guitarist Patrick Johnsen in 2004. Among them there were some other members who joined under the boozing session at Danskebaaten, but the details are unclear.
After guitarist Øyvind Sotberg joined, the classic Pong-line-up was created; Øyvind Sotberg and Patrick Johnsen on guitar, Espen Hagstrøm on drums, Christoffer Karlsen on vocals and finally Geir Jonny Rognan on bass from the band Phase (Norway).
Later on in the russ-time, guitarists Øyvind Sotberg and Rufse, drummer Kristian Steinkjer, Vegard Kaldahl and Tore Paulsrud formed a side project named Folksom Begravels (Crowded Funeral). The band's current status is unknown.
Pong made their first hit "Pain" late in 2003 influenced by heavy metal. The song got finished by the time the band was formed - Lyrics written by Karlsen, Hagstrøm and Kaki, and guitar by Sotberg.
After high-school ended in the spring of 2004, the band had a long break and had finally a reunion at "Tiger Tiger" in Trondheim march 22nd, 2007. From then and to present time, drummer Hagstrøm and guitarist Johnsen had made a vary of song material influenced by artists like Chevelle, Plus 44, Staind, Incubus, Metallica and Deftones.
Now, Pong are planning on jamming at Buranhus, to assemble all the riffs and make complete songs and especially implement vocals and lyrics.

Said everything without a sound,
Yeah your beautiful,
and now you fill me up like a ghost,
When your far away your always close,
Our chain is unbreakable,
I want you to know that I'm driving blind,
And I'm half alive, spinning around,
When your not here my feet don't touch the ground,
Day and night what's lefts not right,
I'm upside down, losing you,
Has turning me inside, turning me inside out.
and all the words I might have said,
Got twisted up instead and I,
I wish you were here tonight,
it feels so cold inside this place,
So alone surrounded by your space,
And I'm empty now,
what ever happens, wherever I go,
I want you to know that I'm drving blind,
And I'm half alive, spinning around,
When your not here my feet don't touch the ground,
Day and night what's lefts not right,
I'm upside down, losing you,
Has turning me inside, turning me inside out.
if you could see me now,
Would you save me,
Before I crash to the ground,
Can you here me,
and I'm drving blind, 'cause I'm half alive,
Spinin' around, when your not here..
Day and night, what's lefts not right,
I'm upside down, losin you is turining me inside,
Turning me inside out, yeah, yeah, oh-OH,
Turnin' me inside turnin' me inside out,
Yeah, ou, oh oh oh ou, turnin' me inside out.

The concept of always accelerating through contact makes a lot of sense. Sometimes when I loop underspin or forehand flick I think I chicken out a bit and don't go all out, but then I don't get the "pick up" and its like the ball slips through. But as I interpret what you're saying its about accelerating smoothly through contact. So then if I wanted to do a controlled slower loop it might work better if I still accel through to get the stick/carry even though the total velocity of my swing might be lower.
