Across the Line
P.O.R.N.COPS Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Here I am, one last time
Here I am, across the line
I'm sorry, I'll say it again
It's just too hard just to be friends
We've both got issues, and that's the hardest part
You made me feel like the only one
Who could fix your broken heart
You had a boyfriend, so how come you never talked to him?
You came to me with your problems
And I'm tired of having to solve them

You told me you loved me
You told me you honestly wanted to choose me
When you're thinking of me
Remember the fact that you never knew me

You're better off on your own
I know it's hard, but you're not alone
You made it obvious to me
There's nowhere else you'd rather be
Days away from making
The greatest mistake of our whole lives
So far away but it felt like you were always by my side
So this is it, it's my last breath
There's nothing more, there's nothing left to say to you
I think it's time to walk away

You told me you loved me
You told me you honestly wanted to choose me
When you're thinking of me
Remember the fact that you never knew me

Be the best that you can be
Don't be afraid to be complete
You're better off without me
Even now that you're thinking about me
It was all too real, the way you made me feel
But it hard enough just to be me
So I think it's time to set you free

You told me you loved me
You told me you honestly wanted to choose me
When you're thinking of me
Remember the fact that you never knew me
If you're in love with me, give me one good reason
You never saw through me

If you're thinking of me
Remember the fact that you never knew me

Overall Meaning

In the first paragraph of the song "Across the Line" by P.O.R.N.COPS, the singer reflects on a turbulent relationship and the challenges of maintaining a friendship amidst unspoken desires and unresolved issues. The lyrics convey a sense of frustration and confusion as the singer grapples with mixed signals and emotional baggage. The theme of unrequited feelings and misunderstanding is evident as the singer recounts their attempts to navigate a complex situation with someone who is unable to fully open up and communicate with their partner.

The second paragraph delves deeper into the singer's emotional turmoil as they confront the painful realization that the other person never truly knew or understood them despite professing love and desire. There is a sense of betrayal and disillusionment as the singer comes to terms with the futility of holding onto false promises and unfulfilled expectations. The lyrics paint a picture of a relationship built on shaky foundations and the inevitable realization that it is time to let go and move on.

As the song progresses, the singer acknowledges the necessity of self-preservation and growth in the face of heartbreak and disappointment. The notion of being better off alone and finding strength in independence is a recurring theme throughout the lyrics. The singer grapples with the conflicting emotions of love and liberation, ultimately concluding that it is time to set the other person free and prioritize their own well-being.

In the final paragraph, the singer contemplates the complexities of love and relationships, urging the other person to strive for their best self and embrace their individuality. There is a bittersweet acknowledgment of the deep, albeit fleeting connection that was shared, but also a firm resolve to move forward and embrace a new chapter without the burden of past entanglements. The final refrain serves as a poignant reminder of the emotional distance between the singer and the other person, highlighting the inherent limitations of a relationship built on false pretenses and unfulfilled promises.

1. She was an accident victim, this cop had no right to interact with
her, and he should be charged with impeding on her medical needs, and
unnecessarily endangering her health, and safety with reckless intent
ignoring protocols that he wrongfully chose not to follow. He should
have called for medical care for her, not treated it like a DUI traffic
stop!!!
2. Male Officers/Deputies should not, and do not have the right in most
places to search a woman beyond ensuring everyone's safety, that is why
we have female deputies & officers! She obviously wasn't an
immediate threat, therefore a search was unsanctioned

Ok I understand that the officer needed to search her, but why did he repeatedly 'search' her in the same place and not anywhere else.

@epictwins1760

O Adnan I agree this was so horrible I'm a girl and she deserves more respect

@oadnan5773

EpicTwins I would say everyone deserves respect (not just girls). Although I believe that the police officer acted unjustly.

@anthonggatto7620
