No Place Like Home
PAX217 Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I wanna go home been gone so long
Remember the way it was when Dad and Mom
Now it's gone but somethin' gotta keep the family strong
So we keep holdin' on to each other and our faith in God
Is what keeps is sane and carries us on
So kids from now on ya betta recognize
That there's no place like home
No place like home
Some say that home home is where the heart is
Not just your heart but your brotha and your sista
Your mother your father that's were it's at
Fell in love said I do I love you then came you
Into a world that you once knew
Now it broke in two and you don't know what to do
Brought tears to your eyes that made you realize
That there's no place like home
No place like home
Take take take take me home
Yeah I grew up in a Christian house
Listenin' to Psalty and Charity Church Mouse
Never did I know and never did I guess
That 18 years later our home would be a mess
Don't get all the treason don't know all the reasons
Why life takes turns good and bad seasons
Something's gotta mend these ripped up hearts
Whatever happened to death do us part
Mom n' Dad come back around
Breakin' me the family tree gettin' shut down

No place like home
Take take take take me home

Overall Meaning

The song "No Place Like Home" by PAX217 is a nostalgic and emotional depiction of the desire to return back to one's roots where one's family and loved ones are. The song is a reflection of the artist's own personal experience of growing up in a happy and peaceful Christian household which was eventually torn apart with the passage of time. The artist longs to return to the familiar territory of his childhood, to the days when his father and mother were still together and the family was united as one. Despite the hardships he has experienced, he recognizes the importance of holding on to each other and their faith in God to keep the family strong.

The chorus of the song emphasizes the idea that home is not merely a place, but a feeling of belongingness and safety that comes from being around loved ones. The verse also highlights the importance of family not just in terms of immediate relations, but also extended family members. The song recognizes the speed at which life can change and take unexpected turns leading to the breaking apart of families but asserts that despite the change, there is still no place quite like home.

My first concert. They opened for Skillet in Springville Ca about 20 years ago. Got to hang with these guys in the kitchen at the church they played at while Skillet was getting set up. Dad was part of the security crew and took me back to see them. They were so nice and cool, wish I had the pictures they took with us.

Probably cuz they were christian bruh. Sadly there were many pretty great christian bands that didn't receive a lot recognition. O. C Supertones come to mind.

Wow! The first (and last) time I heard this song and saw its video was in 2004 or so. TBN broadcasted a half-hour program showing 4 or 5 videos, and this was the first one; I remember the burning picture frames and the band's energy (but not its name, and this is why I love YouTube). The program showed Christian rap videos, too (which were nice because the dancers were engaging without being objectified). I'm convinced that God appreciates many types of music; it's the lyrics that matter to Him.

Went to soul fest back in 2000 when I was in high school and went with a youth group. Someone left their pax217 sweater in the bleachers and I took it :/ didn't regret it though. Pax was such a good band back then! I still love them. I met skwid when he used to work at Starbucks in 2004 in lake forest ca. He had already left pax by then.

The Kind That Could

It hits me with nostalgic remenbrances
