Eclipse
PINK FLOYD [TRIBUTE] Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

All that you touch
And all that you see
All that you taste
All you feel
And all that you love
And all that you hate
All you distrust
All you save
And all that you give
And all that you deal
And all that you buy
Beg, borrow or steal
And all you create
And all you destroy
And all that you do
And all that you say
And all that you eat
And everyone you meet (everyone you meet)
And all that you slight
And everyone you fight
And all that is now
And all that is gone
And all that's to come

And everything under the sun is in tune
But the sun is eclipsed by the moon

Overall Meaning

The song Eclipse is the closing track of Pink Floyd’s iconic 1973 album “The Dark Side Of The Moon”. The song begins with a list of actions that we perform or encounter every single day, including touching, seeing, tasting, feeling, loving, hating, distrusting, saving, giving, dealing, buying, stealing, creating, destroying, doing, saying, eating, meeting, and fighting. This long list seems to capture the diverse experiences that human beings encounter in their lives. The lyrics then suggest that everything under the sun is in tune, but the sun is eclipsed by the moon. This line likely symbolizes the conflicts, flaws, and imperfections of humanity that sometimes overshadow the harmony and order of the universe.

The song is a reminder that life is a mixture of positive and negative experiences, and that even though we may experience hardships, challenges, and pain, these experiences are part of what makes life worth living. The song is a celebration of the complexity and diversity of human experience, and it encourages listeners to embrace all that life has to offer, both good and bad.

This song is so genius. The entire album is spent contemplating life and mortality and then the end with Eclipse which puts everything in perspective and reminds us how small we truly are

@benodriscoll4617

Yeah, it basically says whatever conclusion you come to about life, the moon will still eclipse the sun and nothing will change in the grand scheme of things

@oreziopancrazio3685

literally, tears in my eyes. this duality, life and death, and how everything is so ephemeral. we believe that all we do, all we experience in our life, is eternal... little we do know that everything will be eclipsed......

@LooneyMc1415D

I like to think that the entirety of our experiences as individuals are all part of a greater order, "in tune" with all of existence. And at times when we feel overwhelmed with all that's described in Eclipse, it's easy to forget that. We can't see because "the sun is eclipsed by the moon" but the thing about eclipses is that they're temporary. Through some patience and a bit of time, perhaps we will begin to see how "everything under the sun is in tune".

its all about Syd, even that i didnt like Syd era on Pink Floyd (musically speaking), if he didnt exist the rest of the band was never able to compose all this album.
Its a really sad story once you understand what was going on with Syd and how it influenced all Pink Floyd style, we have to thanks and pray for him, hes surelly proud for rest of the boys.

@lidaa8514

This is why Pink Floyd is phenomenal

I can't even describe the feelings I get from the line "Everything under the sun Is in tune, but the sun Is eclipsed by the moon". What an ending to the GREATEST ALBUM EVER MADE. Period.

@reine71658

And all that's to come,
And everything under the Sun,
How does it feel ,
When the sun is eclipsed by the Moon.
Are the actual words. I know it's important to you , because like myself you find yourself in the lyrics. And I agree about it being one of the greatest endings to an amazing album. The Beatles Abbey road was no slouch either.

@Christo Benno And all that is now
And all that is gone
And all that's to come
And everything under the sun is in tune
But the sun is eclipsed by the moon

Your version of the lyrics wouldn't even fit the melody rhytm...where did you find it?

@reine71658

@Steve Di Fidio sure they do. And I'm reading them from the album jacket. I still have many of the original albums. Mostly because I loved the artwork. Sabbath, Zeppelin, Uriah Heap. A whole shit load. And now vinyl is making a comeback, who'd a though.
