2 CLOSE
POOL Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

All in all yea when I get up I'm so fed up doin' none of what I liked back in the days when I was younger I was stronger. And everything I want is you.

Take another chance on us
Oh The minute I saw you
The moment I got too close (your love)
Take another chance on us
Oh The minute I saw you
The moment I got
Too close
Too close to love

All what's left is us at the movies holding hands and just pretending what I miss is something different like having cereals in bed together. And everything I want is you.

Take another chance on us
Oh The minute I saw you
The moment I got too close (your love)
Take another chance on us
Oh The minute I saw you
The moment I got
Too close
Too close to love

Looking past me looking past you when our paths cross now that I know
If we go far we will see if we are close (enough to belong) still everything I want is you.

Take another chance on us
Oh The minute I saw you
The moment I got too close (your love)
Take another chance on us
Oh The minute I saw you
The moment I got

Too close
Too close to love

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to POOL's song "2 Close" depict a sense of longing and nostalgia for a past relationship or connection. The opening lines, "All in all yeah when I get up I'm so fed up doin' none of what I liked back in the days when I was younger I was stronger," suggest a dissatisfaction with the present and a yearning for the energy and passion of youth. The singer expresses a desire for someone or something that they currently lack in their life. They recognize that everything they want is represented by this person.

The chorus of the song, "Take another chance on us, oh the minute I saw you, the moment I got too close, too close to love," indicates a plea for another opportunity to make a connection or rekindle a past flame. The singer acknowledges that they may have gotten too close before, possibly resulting in a failed relationship or a loss of love. Yet, they still believe in the potential of their connection and want to take a chance on it.

The second verse reflects a sense of yearning for simplicity in a relationship. The lines, "All what's left is us at the movies holding hands and just pretending what I miss is something different like having cereals in bed together," allude to a desire for the small, intimate moments that make a bond special. Again, the repetition of "everything I want is you" emphasizes the importance of this person in the singer's life.

The final verse suggests a realization that looking past each other's flaws and finding common ground is essential for a successful relationship. The lines, "Looking past me, looking past you when our paths cross, now that I know if we go far we will see if we are close enough to belong," signify a willingness to overcome obstacles and challenges in order to sustain their connection. Despite any uncertainties, the singer remains steadfast in their belief that this person is everything they want.

Overall, "2 Close" explores themes of longing, nostalgia, and the desire to reconnect with a past love or connection. It conveys a sense of yearning for simplicity, understanding, and vulnerability within a relationship.

How to make this movie scary:
1. Believe that all pools have a garage door that will lock you in at the push of a button.
2. Believe no one looks at the pool before closing said door because it'd Friday night and we gots to get drunk.
3. Believe that you cant out swim a 2mph garage door.
4. Believe that people locking the place up cant hear people yelling from inside what should be an empty pool room.
5. Believe no one would notice the left behind personal items and place them in lost in found, only to notice obviously necessary medical items in the bags.
6. Believe that no one noticed cars left behind in the parking lot, after the two were missing.
7. Believe there isn't a part of the pool that isn't 3, 4, or 5 feet for the kids visiting the public pool.
8. Believe that two girls can somehow hold their breath underwater for what is probably 10-15 minutes of everyone else gathering their items and leaving; or if they were in the pool no-one would have said get out the pool is closed 10 minutes before the gate began to close.
9. Believe that the multiple floating dividers cant be unhooked and turned into a makeshift Lay-Z-Float to relax in while you wait for janitors/security to make rounds or until someone reports you missing in a few hours and calls the pool you went to.
10. Believe that the one person who walks in is a murderer and don't say hey we're stuck! Although that would end the movie instead of sitting quiet till they turn on some auto cleaning system.
420. Take a lot of drugs so you freak out and hallucinate something actually scary.

That reminds me... I need to get drunk, high, and watch a terrible movie, cya in 85 mins.
