Peaches
POTUS Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Movin' to the country, I'm gonna eat a lot of peaches
I'm movin' to the country, I'm gonna eat me a lot of peaches
I'm movin' to the country, gonna eat a lot of peaches
I'm movin' to the country, I'm gonna eat a lot of peaches

Peaches come from a can
They were put there by a man
In a factory downtown

If I had my little way
I'd eat peaches every day
Sun soakin' bulges in the shade

Movin' to the country, I'm gonna eat a lot of peaches
Movin' to the country, I'm gonna eat a lot of peaches
I'm movin' to the country, gonna eat a lot of peaches
Movin' to the country, gonna eat a lot of peaches

I took a little nap where the roots all twist
Squished a rotten peach in my fist
Dreamed about you, woman

I poked my finger down inside
Make a little room for an ant to hide
Nature's candy in my hand or a can or a pie

Millions of peaches - Peaches for me
Millions of peaches - Peaches for free
Millions of peaches - Peaches for me
Millions of peaches - Peaches for free
Look out

Millions of peaches - Peaches for me
Millions of peaches - Peaches for free
Millions of peaches - Peaches for me

Millions of peaches - Peaches for free
Look out

Overall Meaning

At first glance, POTUS's song "Peaches" seems to be a straightforward tune about the joys of moving to the countryside and indulging in the delicious fruit that grows there. However, a closer look reveals a slightly more complex message. The repeated chorus of "movin' to the country, gonna eat a lot of peaches" suggests a desire to escape from the hectic pace of city life and find a simpler, more natural existence. The references to "nature's candy" and the "sun soakin' bulges" suggest a celebration of the pleasures of the natural world, while the line "I took a little nap where the roots all twist" conjures up a carefree, idyllic image of lying among the trees.

However, there is also an undercurrent of rebellion in the song. The reference to "peaches from a can" suggests a frustration with the artificial, mass-produced nature of modern society, and the desire to return to something more authentic and home-grown. The line "if I had my little way, I'd eat peaches every day" suggests a yearning for a simpler and more fulfilling existence, unencumbered by the distractions and pressures of modern life. Overall, "Peaches" is a celebration of the simple pleasures of life, and a call to return to a more authentic and natural way of living.

True story: I did a report on this band in sixth grade because we loved them and it was for music class. We SERIOUSLY were able to get the band to come into our classroom and be apart of our music report! They also signed paper for every student in our whole school!!! I’ll never forget this!!!

True story: Last year me and my family moved to the country. A couple of days ago a man was going door to door selling fruit by the case out of the back of a truck. My wife asked me what she should get, I told her to get a box of peaches. Later that night me, her, and our kids were standing around this huge box of peaches, everyone eating a peach. I pull out my phone and start playing this song. Expert-level dad joke.
