Prime seems to be the most over-hyped bottle of water there has ever been. Show's what the power of a marketing campaign and some popular influencers can do despite a product being trash.
One of (not the only) the best thing you can do before training in the gym or exercising in general is having a little salt, I find it really delays the fatigue. Problem is it's readily available and cheap, so an influencer can't peddle it.

The ratio of potassium to sodium is more important than the amount, 3:1 is ideal you should be getting 3x more potassium than sodium, it’s about balance

I make my own with water, some lemon juice, lime juice, a bit of salt, a bit more of a product I've found marketed as "light salt" that is a blend of sodium and potassium, and a bit of sugar. Tastes like the lemon-lime Gatorade of my youth.

Mate, i learned the hard way that you cant just drink a ton of water to stay hydrated during intense exercise. I was out of work and doing cash jobs to get by during covid. A mate of mine whos a plumber needed someone to dig a ditch for him. So, 31 dehree day in Sydney, super out of shape, digging a 400mm deep, 300mm wide, 15meter long ditch. Must have drunk 6 litres of water, at the end of the day had heat stroke and couldnt get out bed for 2 days lol. Made sure to uave electrolytes and some carbs in my hydration after that

u can drink just water, your mate just drank way too much. 6 litres of water can give u water poisoning, especially drinking it fast and not peeing enough. you're meant to sip it or drink 1-2 ltrs at the end. and eating carbs is a totally different thing, that's food.

@@WinterMan. sugar in the hydration fluid helps absorption of sodium and the water itself. 1-2 litres of water is completely insufficient for such a level of output, especially if you are a heavy sweater and lose a lot of electrolytes relative to the rest of the population. Around 15ml of water per pound of body weight is recommended even just sitting around. The 6l was correct, the problem was that it was not absorbed. I went onto another job after that which was removalist work. I made sure to take 4l of premixed sports drink with me every day that I made myself as well as 2-3 litres of water and it was all good after that.

I sweat buckets while training as well. Suffered migraines as a child, somewhat as a teenager, then they came back with a vengeance when I took up muay thai. Water intake didn’t help. I was actually water loadings and it was flushing out of me. Took me ages to actually look it up and, as a result, found that it was sodium etc., I was lacking during and after training. Started drinking coconut water during the session, sorted it right out.

It's better than Prime for hydration, but not ideal. The ideal sports drink would replace sweat almost 1:1 on most components (primarily sodium and potassium) with some glucose to facilitate the transfer of the water and salts into your bloodstream from your small intestine. Sodium to potassium should be at a ratio of about 4 or 5:1, with sodium at about 1g per liter of water. If there's a little calcium or magnesium in there, that would be a bonus, since you lose those in salt as well, but not in as high of quantities, so not that big of a deal. Find something that's close to this and it's probably a good replacement for sweat loss.

It's the Sunny D of sports drinks, you had Sunny D over promoting its vitamin content to make the product sound healthy and make it sell and back then it was very syrupy, it should be enjoyed as a normal drink rather than a supplement and that is what people went on a craze to buy it back in the 90s. Now Prime is doing the same thing minus the sugar and is just an expensive Lucozade Sport using electrolytes as the selling point and manipulating how great it is with silly ingredients like 10% coconut water when the rest is from municipal supply.

This is a very singular point of view comparing it to only a rehydration supp that adult athletes drink... Well for my kid, after baseball it is good in that it is low sugar and dye free , and also it doesn't taste like salt.. because my kid won't drink any of the salty ones no matter how hard I try.
