Icons
PTI Lyrics

Poor by common standards
Today, I felt the shame
You change, while I stay the same
Your Cross is nothing but wood
Your statue is nothing but stone
Your money is nothing but gold
Your Icons are all alone
A Life, Made of chains
We're tied to our posessions
Want, all that remains
We'll never be happy
A world, Made of clay
We yearn to burn out faster
The rain, washes us away
We build it faster
A life time of living in this world
Whats real and what is imagery
Fall to my knees I hold my head
This white noise please help me, heal me
When everything has died for naught
My mind creates this single thought
You live your life all full of lies
You worship your false icons
In the first verse of PTI's song "Icons," the singer expresses his pain and feelings of shame in being poor compared to common standards. He compares himself to a changing world, while he remains the same. The second verse speaks about icons and possessions. The singer says that crosses, statues, and money are all meaningless objects made of simple materials. He explains that these icons are all alone and hold no power in themselves.
The chorus of "Icons" speaks about the struggle of living a life chained to possessions. The singer says that wanting what remains will never bring true happiness. He then compares the world to clay, where people yearn to burn out faster, and the rain washes everything away, yet people continue to build faster. Finally, the third verse of "Icons" speaks about the realization of how much of our lives have been spent in a world of falsehoods. The singer talks about holding his head and begging for help to escape the white noise of the world around him. He expresses his frustration with people who worship false icons and live a life full of lies.
