Big Beautiful Day
PWR BTTM Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

There are men in every town who live to bring you down
Make themselves feel bigger making you feel small
My advice is to look incredible
As you make their lives regrettable by being your damn self
God, it's so exhausting

Curse that motherfucker who would spit upon another's body
Who the hell gave you the right to tell me that I'm wrong
Curse every one of you who tell me that I cannot be who I want
Ain't no fucking way you'll fuck up my big beautiful day

There are men everywhere who cannot help but stare
When they see you 'cause they cannot understand
Within those men there are boys who have never had the choice
But to grow up and be scared to be your friend
Jesus Christ, let's help them

Curse that motherfucker who would spit upon another's body
Who the hell gave you the right to tell me that I'm wrong
Curse every one of you who tell me that I cannot be who i want

Ain't no fucking way you'll fuck up my big beautiful day

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of PWR BTTM's song "Big Beautiful Day" is a celebration of self-love and an anthem against those who try to bring us down. It speaks directly to those who have encountered the type of people who make themselves feel superior by belittling others and those who are being told that they must conform to who society says they should be. This type of person is referred to in the lyrics as "men in every town who live to bring you down" and the song encourages us to ignore them and to "look incredible" while being our true selves.

The lyrics take a bold stand against bullying and negativity. They condemn those who would "spit upon another's body" and ask the question "Who the hell gave you the right to tell me that I'm wrong?". The song encourages us to be ourselves and to embrace our uniqueness, even in the face of criticism, rejection, and intolerance. It recognizes the emotional toll that can take, but also celebrates the moments of joy and beauty in our lives, such as a "big beautiful day", that make it all worth it.

Overall, "Big Beautiful Day" is a powerful, moving, and empowering song that celebrates individuality, diversity, and self-love. It speaks to anyone who has ever felt singled-out, marginalized, or belittled and encourages them to stand up and claim their own identity and worth. I know this band was cancelled because of the lead singers behavior but I don't care (that I still love) this song, it meant a lot to me when I first heard it and it still does. I came out as bi when I was 13, in 2003, when that was insane to do. And this song made me feel like a god damn superhero to see all my feelings confirmed. I miss this band.
